The term goal scoring forward was intentional.
He has scored a lot of goals but doesn't qualify as above.
As was the word....great.
Yes we have had some good goal scoring forwards but who were amongst the best?
If memory serves me right, didn't Adrian Alston used to take a shot at goal straight from the kick off ?
Andy Campbell. Never scored 20+ but he scored the goal to put us in this division
Brighton at home in a game played in January 76 that was shown on Match of the Day - he also had a header which looked to be a certain goal that bounced freakishly over the bar off the soft and muddy pitch which prompted a search, unsuccessful I believe, of the goalmouth later for the coin which cost us a goal.
Interesting that quite a few of those listed in the title of this thread operated as a pair of strikers, whereas nowadays you probably get more teams going with one of them, rather than two.
Although his goalscoring record for us wasn't great, I always thought that Steve Thompson was a talented player, Joe Mason was very good in his first season for us as well and I'm glad someone mentioned Cameron Jerome who I always believe gets a tough time off City fans for comments he made as a kid at a time when the club were looking to sell him.
Bob Hatton wasn't here long, but he played a big part in our promotion in 82/83 and the same could be said about Kevin Bartlett in 87/88.
I'll also mention Etien Velikonja while making no suggestion as to whether he should be in the good or rubbish striker category.
Pikey used to make me laugh.
A typical conversation with my father when pikey played for us.
How was the game son?
Me: It was ok
How did Pikey play?
Me: He was rubbish
But he scored a penalty and another goal
Me: Yes, but he was still rubbish
Just to be clear, which Toshack do you mean?
Paul Shaw, outdid them all, he scored one with his arse.
When I first started watching the City, Moore and Stephens were our strikers. I remember Moore being quite popular, even though he hardly scored. (Yes I did see him score.) Yet Stephens would get a fair bit of stick, even though he was a good goal scorer for us. My biggest memory of Stephens though, is the sitter he missed late on against Arsenal in the cup.
The worst striker I've ever seen was Cameron Toshack, he was piss poor.

......and what a waste of time and money. There's an argument to say that the dreadful Derek Showers was more useful to Cardiff City as at least he turned up and tried. Turning up and trying was never Friday's strong point. He doesn't deserve to be in any list of Cardiff City great goal scorers.
Greg Farrell????
Winger.
When he could be arsed he was a good winger
