Basket case of a club
In the classic words of Frazier ""we're doomed""
My 1st away game since Oxford in a pre season friendly a few years back.
Left with 10 minutes to go. Played well 1st half but second half they were all over us and should have scored 5.
Our Keeper was dodgy, kept kicking it out into touch from goal kicks.
He did make one world class save though.
I won't write etheridge off yet. It's one pre season game.
Same as Marshall, his kicking was woeful too.
*MELTDOWN*
Yes because he's such a **** that every goal kick he would take would land to the opposition or into touch Unless Glenn Hoddle has become a goal keeper in later life I dont think there's a keeper in the world, let alone the championship, who can accurately ping goal kicks 60/70 yards to a team mate. Going high and long from a goal kick always has, and always will be, a 50-50.
Ifs, ifs, ifs. If your auntie had a cock she would be your uncle.
Besides its not like Marshall has got loads of caps for Scotland.
Etheridge has twice as many international caps for his country.
I don't think anyone is saying he's as good as Marshall just tearing apart the importance you're placing on keeper distribution at this level.
I don't know if half these comments are taking the mick or serious
The stats show that goalkeepers kicking it long results on average in more shots conceded and less shots taken than rolling it out. Which is why more and more sides play it out from the back these days.
Most of the data is available from top leagues though, I don't know how the payoff differs as you drop down the leagues and player quality drops.
For throw ins however, a long throw is statistically better than a short throw, even in terms of shots faced following the action.
