That gay fella 'H' out of the pop group Steps should get married to Mr C out of the Shamen, they would save £££s on personalised taps for their new home.
Gareth Thomas's BBC documentary on homophobia in football https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RaBEdmU67Y convinced me that football is unique among major sports for its level of homophobia.
Also exposes the FA & other bodies as doing feck all to stamp it out.
Why are so many gay Championship players (statistically, there must be tons) living a lie by not coming out? Simple. Because they're scared of how we, the fans, would treat them. Football really needs a Gareth Thomas to come out & shame everyone involved in football into action.
It isn't that they want to announce it it is that they have to keep it secret in every single other part of their life. Can't sleep around without fear of it being leaked, can't get close enough to anyone to have a meaningful relationship without it getting found out, if they do can't go out with their partner wihtout the media being suspicious, can't go on holiday with their partner etc.
Having to keep such a huge part of your life secret from everyone must put a huge strain on everything.
I would think personally speaking mate
does your boyfriend know your here ?
and
We can see you holding hands ?
would be deemed banter much like the comments of
"sheep shagggers" we get There is nothing nasty hurtful or mean in any way
but that's irrelevant there is also a freedom of speech issue
the banning of words is a dangerous slide
most of us covered the book 1984 in high school
in fact that book is more relevant now than ever
https://youtu.be/rY5Ste5xRAA Christopher Hitchens puts it a lot more eloquently than I ever could
tbh nothing offends me
what happened to sticks and stones lol
being offended is just stupid and pointless but people love to complain about something
to be honest mate since first going down the city in 1989 I have never been subjected to racist abuse ever
(we do have a lot of decent fans )
the only time I have been was away at Chelsea in our recent cup game there and that was from Chelsea "fans"
but its water off a ducks back and it does not bother me in the slightest
About a month ago I was looking at an article referring to LBGT and homophobic chants at football fixtures.
The article went on to use the acronym LBGTQ ... and this led my mates to find out what the 'Q' stood for.
My first thought was 'Queer' ... and my mates said you can't say that in relation to the LBGT 'fraternity'.
Further 'googling' brought me to this site:
http://ok2bme.ca/resources/kids-teen...es-lgbtq-mean/
"Queer is an umbrella term for sexual and gender minorities that are not heterosexual or cisgender. Queer was originally used pejoratively against those with same-sex desires but, beginning in the late-1980s, queer scholars and activists began to reclaim the word."
Apparently the term 'Queer' is acceptable as is 'Questioning'.
Lesbian Bi Gay Trans Queer.
And they've all been around for donkeys years i mean since we have records.
Men wore makeup and heels before women and even added a beauty spot wigs etc.
Start small and work your way up. It won't be long before it becomes a crime to hate Manchester United.
