The other day I was working with about 9 other volunteers packing special Christmas food parcels (as opposed to the usual routine stuff) and the majority of the folk there were Christians. Probably no coincidence that the vast majority of food banks are run by churches?

I am very wary of the Jehovah Witnesses but one thing I think they have got more or less right is the way they distance themselves completely from the commercialisation of Christmas. Unfortunately they have taken an extremist view (IMO) in that they reject everything to do with it, to the point where they condemn Christians for even celebrating the birth of Jesus (in fact they are anti-birthdays full stop).
You don't have to be a Christian to do good works , the vast majority of people who work for shelter , the samaritans , crisis at christmas , the rotary club etc are not Christians, my local food bank is run by christians but gets most of its donations from outside of the church

I am wary of all Faith's I am afraid gofer but I am in agreement with you that the door knickers are a very odd bunch
