Is there anything wrong with trying to grow the women’s game? Would you not rather if 50% of the population had a popular sport they cold become professional in.

When women’s football was banned it was more popular than men’s football. Was the men’s game artificially grown? Has the vast sums of money pumped into the men’s game by the premier league not artificially grown it?
Men's professional, non-league, amateur, and age group football are all different categories and they don't compete against one another, so I wouldn't expect to see them all lumped together. Likewise, I would also expect womens football to have its own subcategory.
