    Re: Albums Growing up ?

Madness + The Specials as a young lad got me into music
All Mod Cons The Jam + Glory Boys Secret Affair got me into the mod revival at the end of the 70s whilst I turned into teens
Imflammable Material SLF turned me from mod to punk
The Smiths by The Smiths and Love by the Cult turned me into Indie music and watching live music as a 17 year old
George Best by The Wedding Present - kept me off dance music and more into guitar music

    Man,
Pink Floyd, Caravan, Camel, Miles Davies, John Coltrane, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Thin Lizzy, Sandie Shaw and many others.

Even early Queen before they became crap. Never liked Led Zeppelin either.

Some fo the music listed above to like Stackridge, Santana, Robin Trower, The Who, Jimi Hendrix (luckily I saw him in 1970).

And we had T.Rex and our school dance once, but I didn't go.

Don't be so defensive about it, it's a great song ! I love the piano riff, it's a great hook. And the lyrics ! No wonder it gives you palpitations !

Blackmore, Ozzy, Bill Ward, Geezer & Iommi awesome times. The Capitol being a dive, allowed to stand on the seats and go nuts and previous to this, two x Slade gigs at the Capitol, crowd mayhem with who has to be the best front I have seen, the incomparable Noddy, get yer fkin boots on and get down and get with it, Holder, I go to gigs now, sit down be quiet and just listen to the music basically a misery
I saw both Sabbath (twice) and Rainbow at the Capitol. The first Sabbath gig was great, the second a complete shambles due to technical problems. Blackmore was very uninspiring (yet again).

Without a shadow of doubt. the best two gigs I saw at the Capitol were Jethro Tull and Wishbone Ash. Even to this day, those gigs are are still in my top 5 of all time.

You and I have very similar taste, certainly from that era. Aladdin Sane is my favourite Bowie album but it was punk that got me into Bowie and not the other way round...

Unknown Pleasures influenced my love of the Bunnymen and The Furs so I didn’t include them as influencers of my collection.

I missed Boy from my list though which was an oversight

The Scream is one of my all time favourite albums but it took me a few years to realise that

I would also add Talking Heads.. Fear Of Music and probably The Housemartins ... London 0 Hull 4

London 0 Hull 4 was our go-to album in the car on the way to and from City games. We used to do a lot of aways in the mid 80s. I must have listened to that record hundreds of times. Not necessarily and influencer, but a great record.

She gave us all the horn. She's not on that album, but played with them soon after. She's married to Dave Vanian. Had the pleasure of meeting her once or twice.

I believe she might have. She was more concerned about what was going on at Ninian Park though. Those were dark times.
