The wage bill that year was Ł16.7 million and the operating loss was under a million. The main problem was the club didn't have a rich backer and had no way to service its mounting debts.
Compare those figures to the recent Warnock promotion season, when the wage bill was more than Ł48 million and the operating loss was Ł34 million.
