I have walked/drank all over this fair city and many other and I was more in fear of getting mugged/assualted here in the 80's than I ever have been since.
In the late 70's I recall walking up the Old Kent Road to the river and no taxi would pick me up until I was on the embankment the other side but I never felt afraid or threatened even though it was 3 AM (I was a tad drunk lol)
I. like others, have been to some nasty places and in my personal list this is way down the bottom.

If it wasn't I'd never had considered bringing my foreign wife here. And she loves the place.
