Fourteen Locks Malpas/High Cross

Was looking to do the walk from fourteen Locks in a few hours time from now. If I park the car at 14 locks car park and walk down the canal towards Newport, where exactly will it come out by? I'm thinking it'll go under the M4 near Malpas Road? Does it actually go that far?

Yes goes under M4 up towards Bettws , Malpas and onto Cwmbran and beyond .

Really pisses me off that cardiff no longer has an active canal , apart from the Dock feeder that runs through bute Park

Some great fishing in the Monmouth and Brecon Canal

Where does it start , does it run right into Newport? Driving along the M4 you can see it on your left , does it start from pil ?

Yes goes under M4 up towards Bettws , Malpas and onto Cwmbran and beyond .

If you follow the canal from Fourteen locks down towards Newport you end up by the Malpas Rd / M4 roundabout. The path and canal run parallel with the M4 after you go under the motorway and comes out onto Malpas Rd on the Newport side of the motorway just a few meters from the roundabout.

Cheers Mike. Just done the walk from fourteen Locks to most of the M4 stretch of motorway towards Malpas and then doubled back. Well worth a walk if that's your thing
