Sentiment aside, in normal circumstances many supporters would give Bamba a one year contract as a player. But there lies the rub. Bamba wants to play and that would mean remuneration as a player rather than a coach who would earn very much less. Even if his roles were combined as a player and coach that would mean paying him far more than as just simply a coach.
If the stories are true that Tan is supporting the club to the tune of Ł2m a month, decisions on player contracts become very difficult. The club simply can't afford to retain Bamba as a player, but as a coach hell yes as long as the idea of him playing and being paid as a player is dropped.
