Some interesting stats about Cardiff and Swansea City managers since the mid 2000s.
All of our managers since Dave Jones have been sacked, been moved upstairs or left the club under mutual consent. None of them left for better things and only Solksjaer has managed at a higher level than he did when he was with us. 2 of our 7 regular managers have never managed again after leaving us. I'm struggling to think of the last Cardiff manager who left us for a bigger club. Maybe Len Ashurst was the last, though he was a bit of a failure at Sunderland, who were relegated with him in charge.
Four of Swansea's 12 managers during the same period moved on to bigger clubs, 2 resigned but found work at the same level as they enjoyed at Swansea. That leaves 5 who were sacked, 1 of whom managed for several seasons in the Championship while the other 4 never managed at the same level again, and one who left by mutual consent and retired.
This might interest some people; the number of matches managed by each club's former managers since the mid 2000s since they left either Cardiff or Swansea:
Between them, Jones, Mackay, Solskjaer, Slade and Warnock have managed 588 games since leaving Cardiff City. Solskjaer has managed around half of that amount.
Between them, the former Swansea managers over the same period have managed 2,626 games since leaving Swansea City.
