As I was around in the 60's and involved with the music scene in South Wales the big hitters were the Beatles, Stones, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas (their led guitarist Mike Maxwell ended up as manager of the Barrats music shop in St Mary's Street). The Yardbirds, the Doors etc were popular but only to a less than mainstream music lover. I was a fan of them both. The KInks were poplar but behind those I mentioned.
