my impression is the opposite. i think town is much quieter now than it used to be when I was first going out.

Last night I went to a gig, following which I walked down Mill lane toward the station, it was like a Zoo, the state on some people, boys and girls. I'm in my late fifties and maybe its me getting old, but I cant remember town being like that when I was a kid. My saturday used to be a couple at The Anchor in Taffs Well, or the Station, Radyr (both gone now) a couple more in the Bluebell, before Luigis, Neros or the Rank, Chips down Caroline St and home.
So either:
I have got old and its always been like that
Youngsters today are more aggressive and many more get pissed up
A lot more combine alcohol with other things to 'enjoy' the night
A combination of all of these things
my impression is the opposite. i think town is much quieter now than it used to be when I was first going out.

Are people generally out socialising less these days ? Even before covid ?
And to think footy fans used to be blamed for chaos .
It's awful as is the train journeys home .
The prices of drink doesn't seem to have an impact either.
I'm roughly the same vintage and I think it's always been pretty lively. I think areas like Mill Lane and Wind St in Swansea just make it look worse because everything is concentrated into a small area.
My other theory on aggression is that the drugs have changed especially since the 90s. MDMA/Es have been replaced by cocaine which is widely used.
[QUOTE=dembethewarrior;5283671]mdma is still 7sed and hasn't been replaced as such, cocaine has been widely used for years, and ketanine is now rapidly creeping in..[/QUOTE
My point was that it has been replaced as the predominant party drug.
Caroline St has always been lively late at night for as far back as i can remember. Cardiff and Las Vegas. The only two cities in the world where you can pay for sex with chips.
Bridgend used to be rough at night
Newport had a reputation as well
Broad Street in Barry wasn't always welcoming
