A thread or two on music is fine. As long as they are not started by Sludge

Stick this on the other board if you think it’s more appropriate there by all means.
Won’t reveal the number one, but I can understand why it was picked.

I must admit to not knowing probably 75% of the list
Some great stuff on there , good spot
Shellac !
Some great stuff in that list. No6 being my personal favourite but a great mix of different stuff .
Here's a new one the BBC did last year. Whoever did the engineering deserves a medal, as they have nailed the live sound of the hottest band in the world right now. Why ain't it in the Top 100?

Some interesting stuff, and some weird stuff.
Didn't know Daft Punk had done an Essential Mix. Might have to have a listen to that.
Bob Dylan live in 1965..
...Only at number 92.
Coldplay...fkn Coldplay at number 87!
Get in the bin!
“ The most famous three and a half minutes of music television in British history”.
It’s one of my favorite things on the list, but that statement is just nonsense.
Haven't been in the UK for over 20 years but always tuned in for Jools when i could...This is my personal favorites from memory but not on the list
Dizzee Rascal Bonkers Jools Holland Later Sept 22 2009 featuring Guthrie Govan

Mad World Michael Andrews & Gary Jules @ TOTP in 2004

13. Andrew Weatherall – Essential Mix (Radio 1, 1993)
Remember this so clearly, didn't have any money left so sat in the flat with a mate getting stoned whilst the rest of lads went out. When they got back we were more worked up about the 2 hour mix we'd heard on the radio then the pills and thrills they'd seek'd. My mate passed away about 1.5 years ago so has strong memory triggers..... the last 30 minutes is banging
Not least because he is no longer with us.
One of my all time favourite performers but I wouldn't have this at No.1.
That said, there are so many things that will influence one's selection of favourites and I'd be surprised if even ten of these would be in any poster on here's top 100.
Not one of Clodagh Rodgers
Talking Heads should have been higher with a performance like this.

And Radiohead must have upset somebody at the Guardian!

Obviously subjective but some of the listing are nauseatingly "right on".
Barrington Levy with Aswad on OGWT is one of my favourite ever performances.

Number one though would be Motorhead on The Young Ones :)

I've just looked at the list again and did a rough count of how many out of the hundred I would have heard or seen live and I don't think it would have been more than about thirty. One I definitely can remember though was Nirvana on Top of the Pops in 1991. By then, I'd reached the stage where I'd always have Top of the Pops on in the background while I was doing something else - it was just out of a sense of loyalty to a programme I'd watched, almost without fail for twenty five years and more, but, for the first time in a few years, Smells Like Teen Spirit made me stop what I was doing and say what on earth is that.
Although they are not one of my favourite bands, The Who 'live' at Charlton were the most incredible live band I have ever seen (and I have seen a veritable multitude).
P.S. I was near the front of the stage and I don't consider a gig to be a gig if it's in a big venue and you have to watch a screen to see someone's fingers on a fretboard.
What a right load of shite that is !
