I'd heard that all those offered scholarships had accepted them and signed up. I hope it's true.
It seems a bit unlikely that a player would reject terms and then be selected two age groups up a few weeks later.
That said, Charlie Crew was playing for the U18's quite late in the season last year.
An interesting piece on this topic here: https://roathboy.com/why-it-is-growi...rubin-colwill/
He seems to think that Biancheri is as good as gone, but then again he said Bale had signed so...
Quite.
The overall points of the article are interesting though and a little concerning. Charlie Crew going to Leeds as well as the reported interest in several players suggests this is a talented group (they also form the bulk of a good Wales u17 side) so it would be a shame to lose them
Biancheri was supposed to be off in the summer but he stayed. Flaw with his article, theres nothing to stop them from leaving if we are at Cat 1 either. We just need to make sure they know they have a path to the first team. If they still leave, thats disappointing but thats the best incentive. Us being an average at best Champ club is probably the best thing for these young lads as theyve only got to be better than people like Harris and Whyte to get minutes.
not sure where to put this one but anyone here heard of charlie crew ?
supposed to be a welsh youngster aged 17 on trial with Leeds
wheres he from etc ?
He was legally poached last summer from our academy.
The current system stinks. Anyone showing any promise can be enticed away with next to no recompense to the club who spent years developing them.
The current system needs to change or more clubs will adopt the Brentford model which doesn't benefit youngsters.
Using Rabbi Matondo's exit as an example a fairer system would have given us at least 50% of the fee Manchester city got for him. The percentage should be set by the number of years between transfer fee and joining their first academy. If say we had spent 5 years developing the player and so had Manchester city then a 50 50 split would be fair.
Today’s scheduled under 21s game at Colchester has been postponed.

Am I the only one watching this? 0-0 at half time and forget about efforts on target, I don’t think City have had a shot yet. My message to anyone not watching is an ancient comedian’s catchphrase (was it Arthur Askey?) - you lucky people!
