It's inconvenient for governments. The oil, car, airline, construction etc lobbies exert massive influence on governments all over the world and are generally backed by the likes of Murdoch who control huge swathes of the world's press.
So who is "they" and why would they be lying to us about climate change/silencing the few question it?
