That comment interested me. I lived in Bristol (mainly Bristol West) from 1977-1983: Redlands, Hotwells, Cotham and St Werburghs.

Although there are some posh areas, my memory was that the constituency as a whole was much more mixed than the Tourist Board photos of Clifton suggest. And it is. Most people live in flats. Most rent don't own. A quarter of the population was born outside the UK. There are a lot of students. It is not an area that screams 'love of money and status'. Deprivation is around the UK average. But it does stand out as a hotspot for atheism - so no change there after 45 years!
