Braverman is intentionally stirring up issues and is going through the far right, populist tick list to push her own cause with no real understanding of anything.
The Northern Ireland slant illustrates this precisely as I'm pretty sure you'll find ex members of certain loyalist terrorist groups proudly standing and saluting for those who have fallen in war.
On a personal level, I see from social media that stalwarts like Tommy Robinson, Jason Marriner and the 'lads' have got involved to 'defend' cenotaph and war memorials so I'm expecting a peaceful Saturday with no problems as the character of these two is above any questioning.

Pretty unhelpful intervention when a degree of calm had descended on the debate, with the groups involved not matching near the cenotaph and not at 11am etc etc.
That said, I think she's probably correct. Anyone who thinks the police handled BLM marchers and anti lockdown marchers the same for example is essentially lying to themselves. Perhaps it was the sensible decision in terms of avoiding disorder, but that is still treating them differently.
So yeah, loads of grand questions on the police and it's culture, but I'm not sure the article was needed on the Thursday before remembrance Sunday..

An article of this nature might be considered "unhelpful" if it was penned by a backbencher or someone in the Conservative Party hierarchy.
But this came from the Home Secretary a day after her Prime Minister and the Head of the Met had reached an understanding. This was a deliberate "hand grenade" from someone who seems no longer interested in her obligations and cabinet responsibilities when set against her longer term political ambitions.
Seeking any sense from what she wrote other than her short term wish to undermine her PM and set herself up as the darling of the right wing of the Conservative Party is perhaps missing the point.

Yeah but she's not promoting the EDL or football hooligans, you've inferred that, rather bizarrely. Whatever else she is, she doesn't strike me as someone who would have a laissez faire approach to a bunch of lads in stone island chucking chairs about on the High Streets of Stoke or Burnley.
