  • Bolsonaro out in Brazil.

With the usual refrain from a populist beaten at the ballot box - it was a corrupt vote.

    Good riddance.

The country swings back to the left, four years after electing a far-right leader.

It's great news. Neymar won't be happy which is an added bonus.

I can't say I know an enormous amount about Brazil and what is happening on the ground aside from the Covid situation, which Bolsanaro clearly mishandled and said some rather outrageous things.

I suspect there are reasons millions voted for him and Lula will have to reach out to what is evidently a pretty divided society. I think their parliament is still aligned to Bolsanaro too, making his job harder.

I wouldn't be suprised if there isn't another election sooner than later or that for one reason or other this all drags on, unfortunately. It matters given the importance and size of Brazil.

Ffs James. Have you got a contract with Mike that stipulates you need to be on the fence about everything?

Bolsanaro is worse than anyone we’ve got over here and it’s only a good thing he’s gone (if he does go, I’m sure he won’t take defeat gracefully).

Haha, fair point. Yes, and that reminds me I need to renegotiate terms..

The bloke seems crazy, but nearly half the population just voted for him - why, and will they be won round?

The latter part of what I said isn't fence sitting - its prediction making!

Great news, it will be an interesting case study to observe how a WEF government operates inside a BRICS nation.

It's nice to see the new government are leading the world in democracy and free speech after removing the previous totalitarian dictator.

Difficult times for the Elon Musk libertarian fan boys on here.

Any student of history knows that silencing free speech never ends well.

Free speech? Hate speech? Troll farm disinformation? Hasbara black ops? Neo Nazi lies?

Systemic abuse of social media platforms with the connivance of the platform owner?

An owner who uses his control of the platform to suppress views he doesn't like (ones that don't benefit Elon Musk) then cynically claims to be a champion of something called 'free speech'?

I have only seen snippets of this story, so tell us more.

History repeats, and it looks like we have to go through it all again. Enjoy the ride.

For some strange reason I didn't expect an answer. Just tongue-in-a-knot whaffle. Not disappointed.
