I didn’t attend any games during McCarthy’s reign and most of those I attended under Warnock were reasonably entertaining. I know I was a little bit lucky in the Warnock era as the few games I was at included the 3-0 victory over Villa, the 2-1 win away at Wolves and the bizarre 4-2 victory over Birmingham just before he got the boot.

Warnock’s style of football was agricultural at times and there were plenty of tedious games along the way, but it was rarely as sterile as the rubbish Bulut and his team served up for most of last season.
