It would be good to get some insight into the U21s released, there are some names amongst the released who I’ve seen positive reports about.

Surprised, but pleased, at the new contract offer to Kieron Evans and anyone watching Ollie Denham at Liverpool in that FA Cup match would have been amazed that he would be given a free by us two and a half years later.

I think that's roughly right - with a few who could fit in more than one

Also surprised at Evans but also Fagan-Walcott who seemed to be talking about putting himself in the shop window before his loan. Good though; he seems to have done well. To what ends are we holding on to both these players and Antwi, Conte, Turner and Davies? Part of the first team squad now?

Hughes and Semenyo were once highly rated but have been absent for long periods so maybe injury has influenced their decisions? I wonder if Semenyo regrets refusing a loan a couple of years back. Something seems to have gone wrong with Crole's career too.

Bit disappointed we're not setting Collins free, to be honest.

Surprised that Antwi has been offered a contract. He'll be 23 in October and doesn't look like he's ever going to trouble the first team.

Also slightly surprised that Benjamin is leaving and Fagan-Walcott is staying, as it looked like that would be the other way around.

Denham looked a decent prospect to me when Morison was here, I thought he'd crack on in the same vein as McGuiness.

I'd also say I'm slightly surprised about Evans as Ashford has seemingly surpassed him. Don't see how he's going to get a look in really, especially with Isaak coming back.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was Denham's decision more than the clubs, however it's not written that way.

I think he's triggered the clause in his contract for the extention

It was over 2 years ago. He obviously hasn't developed. It happens, a lot with young players. He's had long enough I suppose.

    Re: Retained List Released

I'm surprised how someone can go from looking so assured at Anfield to being released by a championship club with a leaky defence within a few years

Only surprise for me is Evans, I thought he would go, I guess he still might.

    Re: Retained List Released

So 32 professional contracts then, maybe 10-12 Championship level performers.
