Danke!
Waste of time and money should just play locally and help fund clubs with match takings like the Taffs Well game under Sir Neil .
Usually I'd agree with you but as its the 125 year thing and in years gone by the club has managed to get Ajax, Betis here for a friendly, I was hopeful we get an attractive fixture.
To be fair, the club staff have been busy mind, fannying about the manager.
It's another example for me in the people running the club are waank.
Maybe I'm less bothered about City than I first realised, but even with the 125 year thing I don't see the big deal.
I know we've had some decent teams in the past, was at the Ajax game, got bolloxed after it with loads of dutch buying the rounds, didn't put my hand in my pocketmaybe im mixing my games up but I remember loads of dutch in the piss in Cardiff, maybe we had a scrap with Ajax and weren't on the piss, it was years ago.
Didn't we also play Valencia and some German team?
We did plan on playing shamrock rovers and Wimbledon for our centenary but I think that was cancelled
Final pre-season game confirmed.
BRISTOL ROVERS v CARDIFF CITY
Memorial Ground, Bristol
Saturday August 3rd, ko 3:00pm.
[QUOTE=Eric the Half a Bee;5519319]I'm wondering how many teams declined an invitation before Kidderminster said yes?[/QUOT.
Surely the Cardiff City Stadium isn't ready for the early fixtures? Would be iinteresting hosting Real Madrid at the athletics track.
Yup, and badge, A silhouette of a camp pirate who looks in remarkable health considering the lifestyle. Toby tyke used to be a favourite of mine (Barnsley) although I like the badge motif they have now. He looked like my caretaker from school, who was a nice bloke.
Is the Rovers game to commemorate the rumble of 1983?
Jeff Hemmerman never recovered. I was ten years old, and was petrified. I have the game on VHS somewhere. I can see myself being escorted out of the away end towards safer pastures by Avon and Somerset's finest. (My old man moaning at me, in tow) It was a warm day and my mother made me wear a duffle coat. If my kids had experienced any of that, or the special train pulling up at Portsmouth harbour that same season with the bricks and bottles raining down on us, they'd have PTSD.
Following the City, as many do as the only club, I always remember looking forward to the Big Match of a Sunday afternoon when Brian Moore used to say the big derby coming up and anticipating Liverpool v Man Utd but after the advert it would then cut to the big derby from Twerton Park for Bristol Rovers v Bristol City.
However, they did show that final game when Hemmerman, Hemmerman Jeffrey Hemmerman when he gets the ball he scores a goal Jeffrey Hemmerman got that bad injury that effectively ended his career.
City wanted a friendly against the side they played in their first ever fixture. Unfortunately Canton Cloggers disbanded in 1901.
I agree with what you said, play local teams and put the money into the local community.
Long gone is the back- in- the- day thinking when we were $hit and resorted to looking forward to an FA Cup run and hope for a home draw against a First Division side; when that was the best we could hope for as fans.
Nowadays, we are currently still $hit, and not taking the FA Cup, one of the best competitions in the World seriously enough, in the hope we might finish safe in mid-table-mediocrity.
Why not give back to the community in a pre-season game against a local team motivated to give their best? Surely it is a better run out, than a jolly jape, after you, well played Sir, comfortable non-committal affair.
We do play local teams but send our u21s instead. Playing Kidderminster seems odd instead of a team like Merthyr but I don't think we want to play on the astroturf. And, of course, many teams might have already organised their games before we even began.
Fancied a trip to Austria for years. Latlst went there 30 years ago. Booking tomorrow evening. Should be a good trip 💪
