Re: Cardiff City star's homophobic abuse of police officer

Maybe we can end his contact now and get someone who can play at a higher level as backup?

Totally unacceptable behaviour which should be acted upon by the club if it is to pay anything more than lip service to its claim in its policies that it is against any kind of homophobia.

Romeo is a player who, whilst at Millwall, said he was against any kind of attitude of racism and homophobia.

I always find it more surprising when abuse and phobia such as this, comes from someone from an ethnic minority who potentially has suffered abuse themselves in the past.

Hope he's being encouraged to find another club.

This Romeo is bleeding but you can't see his blood.

At this time we need to support and show him love.

He likely feels awful for what happened.

Who hasn't verbally abused someone when under the influence. Especially the police when locked up, restricting your freedoms.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

    Get rid of him!

I only just found out he’s the son of Jazzie B, he must be proud.

Everyone can make mistakes and anyone can lose their temper and say things they shouldn't. All he has proved is that he is no different.
It's embarrassing for him and his family and Im sure he and they will reflect on that.

Has anyone bothered to find what the circumstances were behind why he acted like this ?

Yup, that's all true, we can all **** up to varying degrees. Doesn't change the fact that he should be punished for his actions. He's acted like an absolute twat.

Wouldn't have been so bad if it was a speed camera cop

If this wasn't a ready made excuse to get his useless arse off our books, I don't know what is. Clear up the wages and **** him off.

Everyone makes mistakes, they often have to pay for them though. Nobody is saying he cant be forgiven and move on with his life, but he's acted a twat and will rightly get stick for it.

    Yes I did.
But there was no mention as to why he said what he said, was he depressed, does he have mental health issues etc
All that report does is state what happened not the underlying reasons why.

I’ve got a sneaking suspicion he was pissed.

Somewhat loose use of the word "star" in thread title?

Was talking to a Millwall fan just after we signed him, he said that we’d signed a wrong ‘un. He actually said that Romeo was a racist, found that amusing coming from a Millwall fan (disclaimer. All Millwall fans aren’t right wing racists), seems he wasn’t wide of the mark.

For us to know that there would have to be a trial with reports made by the relevant Medical professionals. I can't see that happening with someone who was over the limit while driving. Let's just say he was pissed and quite likely homophobic. Given the evidence at hand.

It's alright, I was just on a wind up - Im well aware - he was a p1ssed up idiot who chose to run his mouth and reverted to the probable idiot that he is.

But Ive been told I need to focus on my soft skills and think of others, so desperately trying to - but failing.

Ah, got you. I was a little surprised to see you mitigating for a footballer, but then i should have realised that you probably hate the police more (Public sector workers) than a poxy footballer

Depends... I have worked in various public sector jobs - some just had a very lazy mentality and did just enough so as to not get sacked with a very negative attitude. I've worked for private company that was contracted into the public sector on a Gov contract - the waste was staggering and never something that would be tolerated in the private sector - as you'd go bust.
And you're wrong about the Police - tough job that attracts some people with obvious power issues. The Police force is a reflection society. Some good - some bad, some racist, some sexual predators etc
