It struck me that the game management and decision making from certain players was very poor and it cost Wales the game. Encouraging to see some new talent coming through but you wonder at some of the frankly lunatic plays gifting points.
That game should have been won.
I don't particularly like rugby but some of my friends do and non 6 nations matches I can watch so watched all 3. (well most of)
What was obvious is NZ , England , SA , Ireland are miles better than Wales and Australia.
Massive difference in quality in the other games.
Wales / Australia was an error filled match lacking quality. I've heard a few people say stick with these youngsters and they'll be top players in the years to come. A few maybe (virtually all forwards) but others are miles from it. Winnot is only 2 years younger than Steward of England and I'd be stunned if he got anywhere close to the level Steward is now.
I think Gatland will searching desperately for Welsh qualified players as the current pool are in for a rough time of it. Not helped of course by players being excluded for where they play.
Haven't seen any of the games, but seriously questioning some of his selections. As a Cardiff rugby follower I've been very impressed with the player Ben Thomas has turned into, centre or full back he is very good, but he's not a number 10 . As for Ellis Bevan getting an international cap, unbelievable.
Agree about the Winnett point aswell. He's a bit lightweight and doesn't really have the skills to make up for that. The commentators and pundits absolutely adore the boy, but I have seen very little from him that makes me share in their opinions. Said to my dad a few times last year that watching him play then reading the reviews feels like they're talking about a different player.
Watched all 3 games today. Both the NZvENG and SAvIRE were high quality games, although Ireland did concede too many penalties.
The AUSvWAL game was error strewn with 2 poor defences. There were some encouraging signs of improvement in the Welsh performance and, whilst Dewi Lake's 2 tries were well taken, there's no way he'd have scored those against one of the top teams.
