Part of me thinks we don’t need another midfielder, but we haven’t really got a box to box one apart from Joel Colwill - I assume we’re talking a loan?
Wintle is a weird one, I don't think he's shit I just think he looks shit for us because he doesn't really fit in.
One of them that would probably look good against us if we let him go.
Should be a squad player for us imo, on for the last 20 etc. He doesn't affect games enough, bit of a water carrier if you like.
Even now I'd put Joel Colwill ahead of him.
Wintle is an excellent player but its crystal clear Bulut is going for pace down the flanks this year if we need to or at least gives us another option which we didn't have last season
If we can get O'dowda and Ramsey flying this season I think Wintle first team appearances will be limited barring we have a mass of injuries again
agree about Colwill would like to see him feature alot more this season if he don't get loaned out
We need pace, big time. Although not sure what that has to do with Wintle.
Wintle is one of them "tidy" players. Probably a victim of systems/tactics.
I still don't know why we signed the players we did last year looking at what he is trying to sign this year. We wanted pace and a player to beat a man? So why did the club sign bowler?
Probably time for a clean slate, what's done is done etc. Will judge on how we do in the new season.
Now is the Wintle of our discontent.....
It's obvious that we signed what we could to get bodies through the door. The transfer embargo and lack of funds limited us massively and it's likely we took Bowler as we needed a winger and couldn't get better without spending a bit of money either through loans or transfer in January.
Same with our striker issues.
Forgive me if I am wrong here, I'm probably wrong more than I'm right in footballing matters to be fair, but surely if what we wanted was pacy a player to beat a man you STILL get that mould of player in just a lesser quality? "If" he has a certain way he wants to play, surely you still recruit the type of player you want just not as good, and upgrade as you are able to? What sense does it make to just fit bums on seats? I think people need to stop making excuses for him.
Whilst they are not wrong in their description, why do newspapers insist on sensationalising everything? "International midfielder' is dressing it up a bit https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...-city-29560338
I see the report also omits the fact that Robertson got a really bad hamstring injury in the first week of January. It required an operation and he didn’t play for Pompey again.
You’d have imagined that would be key information, but Walesonline obviously didn’t think so. Sounds like he was doing well before that.
Seems like it was a bad one, but on the plus side it appears he was impressing before it happened:

Robertson quote from The News (Portsmouth), date May 2024:
'‘They grade hamstrings using 1C, 2C, 3C and 4C, with different numbers reflecting the different levels of the tear. Mine was a 4C, the worst one, similar to Tino’s.
‘I’ve had a lot of injuries since I was younger, so I kind of know how to deal with them and get over them. But nothing had been this bad. I couldn’t get out of bed for weeks, was unable to move, dependent on someone doing something for me all the time".
"I’ve now been back training on the pitch for two-and-a-half months and feel brilliant. I’m getting back to my old self, but I just need to get a bit fitter.
‘With no matches now, I have a month or two to get back fully, fully fit for pre-season with City. There’s so much time to be able to get back to where I was before and I’m sure I’ll be fine.’

Crystal Palace’s teenage midfielder David Ozoh is being tracked by a number of clubs this month. Luton and Plymouth have registered their interest while Cardiff and Derby are also tracking Ozoh in view of a loan deal.
This adds another layer to the rumours.
