Worth a read perhaps in light of some of our recent signings.

Apparently signing Roko Simic from RB Salzburg and loaning him to Kortrijk

We’re being linked to this guy on Twitter. He’s Senegalese, not sure if he’s out of contract though.

No disrespect to you, but the football cliche 'good business' is just plain daft.

Let's be honest a signing only becomes good business if the player is either a success or sold at a profit.

not every move like this will be successful, but that doesn't mean they aren't good business at the outset.

we could continue signing 29-30 year olds and never have any chance or recouping the transfer fees. at least by buying some players with the potential to increase in value a lot we have some possibility of it paying off. Even if 1 in 10 signings like this make it big it's probably still worthwhile given the elevated fees premier league teams pay. and the fact we can offer him a season in Belgium to progress without having to struggle for game time here is also pretty sensible

Is the loan to Kortrijk a way of avoiding what I still call FFP penalties I wonder?

We'll have to agree to disagree then, because the success or otherwise of a signing is obviously unknown at the time of a transfer and any unsuccessful signing who ends up costing the club money in the long run is not good business as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not talking about this signing in particular, of course - I'd never heard of the player until today. I just think 'good business' is a stupid phrase that is used way too liberally in football circles.

Let’s not forget that Tsunoda was one of these too… bad luck with the injury but we’ve signed 3 defenders on long term deals since, chances he ever plays a role here?

FFP might be a reason but if not I’m not sure why he’s being farmed out, surely not an inferior option to Etete or Reindorf given their relative experience and scoring records at this point in their career? In a squad absolutely desperate for a striker?

Rjk wrote that it 'seems' like good business, which at first sight it does as the club have a development plan for the player. It potentially could become very or excellent business if the player turns out to be a success, although I accept that is not guaranteed

I think so, it's becoming popular for some owners to have other clubs in other leagues.

Well, at least we won't need to worry about a testimonial.

Well the purchase price can be amortised across the length of the contract, but any loan fee will be realised in full, so potentially yes.

“Game charger” I’ve got a feeling that Erol’s view will be different to ours! Proven 25 goals a season striker is a game changer!

Sometimes it can be a Work Permit thing, but in this case I have no idea.

They want another senior striker, so that means they’ll have Kanga, Robinson and potentially the new one. Simic isn’t going to play, and him getting splinters in his arse is no good for anyone.

Re Tsunoda, nobody knows what he’s like or all about but Goutas will probably leave on a free this summer so he might be our 4th choice. If Fish or Daland look good, we’ll cash in as well.

I’d rather we signed young players with potential instead of the over the hill journeymen we’ve almost exclusively signed for the best part of a decade

    I wouldn't employ him as a chauffeur.

Based on his answers at his press conference yesterday, Bulut played no part in the decision to loan him out - I don’t think for a second that he would have no input into the decision if it was a footballing one, so, if that’s not the reason (especially when there has to be a fair chance that we don’t sign another striker today), what is? Finance seems easily the most likely to me.
