I know this has been mentioned on many occasions but with the very sad news from last week with the passing of Sol Bamba is it not time for the club to reconsider naming parts of the ground after legendary players?
Peter Whittingham and Sol Bamba most definitely fall in that category and these are players very recent in our memories.
Fred Keenor is obviously a legend and remembered with the statue but certainly before our time.
So what about 'The Peter Whittingham Family Stand' and the 'Sol Bamba Grandstand'.
Or am I just being a soppy of sod?

Is Phil Dwyer commemorated anywhere ? Surely he has to be top of the list. Just because Billy Hardy and Len Davies are Legends of yesteryear doesn’t mean they should be ignored. How about Peter King ?

I don't know what the answer is but for sure it's a thought provoking subject.
My favourite time supporting City was in the late 60's and early 70's at NP and that period throws up a number of players.
I hope the club doesn't do nothing.
Be a bit stupid naming a stand of a stadium after players who’ve never played there
that's a very good point and also makes the criteria easier and on this basis Whitts and Sol are definitely high up the list.
They could name a block of seats after players gives them more latitude with the number of players who deserve to be on the list
What about naming the outlets on the concourses after players, ‘The Robin Friday Bar’, ‘The Jon Parkin Burger Joint’, ‘The Michael Chopra Betting Stall’, ‘The Isaac Vassell St John’s Ambulance Station’.
I thought the Peter Whittingham Family Stand was a genuine possibility, but maybe it was just a rumour started on a message board.
I guess the club try to resist such measures as it removes a potential sponsorship opportunity.
Why, the legendary player of the Club is being commemorated irregardless of the stadium. Nat Lofthouse never played at the Toughsheet Community Stadium but I’m sure Bolton Wanderers fans are very happy to sit in a stand named after their absolute legend.
I wonder if Queen Victoria had visited every park named after her.
And did Churchill ever visit Churchill Way?

Yes. She was on first name terms with Billy the Seal as well.
I don't know if it still is, but I think the media suite at CCS used to be named after Phil Suarez.
I guess for a stand to be named after an ex player, it asks the question of who really are the club's top legends. I can make a case for Whittingham. If we named 4 stands after 4 ex players, I can't make a case for Bamba being in the top 4.

The Peter Whittingham Family Stand made a lot of sense to me and a lot of fans, wasn't it raised by the Supporters' Trust?

We have a winner. Add in the Wilfried Kanga statue & the Erol Bulut Hall of Mirrors
The Wilfried Kanga statue was on the pitch for over an hour last Saturday dinner time.
So, not permanent then ?
It was at the Supporters Liaison meetings and I think the Supporters Club and other reps were in favour but it got nowhere with the Club.
