Yeah unbelievable effort by the young Vaughan. He must be bloody knackered mind, bowl 40 odd overs in the first innings then wander out to open the batting. He seemed to be doing a lot more with the ball than jack leach at the other end aswell. Really hope Somerset go on and win the league now!

Me too. With that sort of performance, and the approach of the England management team - pick them young and raw with potential- wouldn’t be surprised to see him called up for Pakistan tour if anyone were to drop out.

He must be in the conversation now surely. An opener who can bowl is incredibly useful aswell.

Agree. Exciting prospect. And an interesting conundrum. Vaughan and leach bowl Somerset to victory. Bashir, their county colleague who cannot get in the Somerset side, is no. 1 pick for country!

I hadn't realised Bashir was at Somerset aswell. Wonder if the ecb will force them to move 1 on this winter, like they did with crane at Hampshire.

One in the eye for those that say glamorgan never win anything these days. Dewi the dragon wins the mascot race. Wonder who was inside?

watching the inevitable thumping by Yorkshire. Interesting listening to Edward Bevan saying it had been a poor season for Glammy. Failed to qualify for Blast finals, last but one in Div 2 of CC. Northeast gone right off the boil. Very sad to see how the club has gone backwards and their demise.

In fairness, you can't focus on the negatives of the CC and T20 but then ignore the positives of the One Day Cup, in which we've obviously had a very good year.

The same problems still seem to persist though, year after year. Still sorely missing a reliable opener and an additional paceman. Still wildly inconsistent. A lot was made of the performance culture (or lack of) after Maynard left; evidence would suggest not much has changed.

You always get the feeling that we're not a million miles off, but we're just always short of kicking on to that next level.

A maiden first-class 50 for Asa Tribe. It's been a tough start for him but he came good today while wickets were tumbling around him. Not out so a chance to add some more in the morning.

Pretty atrocious return to the championship. Less said the better.

Cooke and Crane wont be selected for the final, apparently Somerset taking a somewhat similar approach in terms of call-ups. Lets see.

Great memories of Trent Bridge last time out but unable to travel up this time, looks like it could be a case of hoping for enough (40?) overs taking place to make a game of it over the two days going by current forecasts.

Looks like you’re right about the weather, a delayed start and a forecast of thundery showers through today. There seems little chance of the game being completed if it goes into a second day because the forecast for tomorrow is for heavy rain all day.

toss delayed, rain, outfield very wet.

    weather shite ☹️

robert croft had a good idea rather than share the trophy why not start next season with this game

Oŕ an indoor game or a bowl out. Must be some way of doing it.

So as 2 days scheduled if say they can start at 4.30pm they'll do the first 20 overs of the 50 over game tonight and try and do the other 80 overs tomorrow? Seems a bit unfair on all those who have travelled today?

"UPDATE: The players have agreed in principle to a 20-over a side game if rain stops.

If it continues to rain until 2:33pm, play will be called off for the day. Tomorrow will serve as a reserve day should the rain stop."

Now abandoned for the day. They'll try again tomorrow.

It's almost like they should have played the final shortly after the semi finals in the middle of August.

    Re: GLAMMY

I understand moans about leaving it late in the year but to be fair people need time to arrange trips and August weather is certainly no better than September usually. A few days ago it was glorious. What I find difficult to understand is there is not one word in the rules about the final being rain affected.

OK but why is it for the players to agree?

I don't know whether we are talking about the same thing but I skim read the entire 32 page doc on the ECB website yesterday and came to the same conclusion. Yes I am a sad bastard.

I feel for you mate. What a waste of a day. I decided not to go as I chose not to buy tickets unless the forecast was decent.
    No chance of play tomorrow.
    Is the trophy shared?

    Yes, trophy shared.

My lift decided last night not to travel. A wise decision.

I'd take an early train tomorrow but forecast makes that thoroughly futile.

Thanks for confirming. Such a shame. Yep there would no point going tomorrow.
