Thread: Ollie Tanner

  1. #26

    Re: Ollie Tanner

He’s out in Cardiff virtually every weekend win lose or draw. It’s a shame that he’s virtually throwing away a golden opportunity he’s been handed. No coincidence Bulut called him out on his weight the other week, his lifestyle leaves a lot to be desired and you can’t help but feel he will look back in 10 years and regret his current choices. That’s not from a position of players aren’t allowed a social life or a beer after a defeat but it’s clearly having a detrimental impact on him with his performances.

My personal opinion is that as great as the Swansea goal was for us as fans and him at the time, it is probably the worst thing that could have happened to him

It's funny in a way, when he first came on for us i thought he looked like a brat (he played well tho), turns out i wasn't that wrong.

I think any player doing this is taking the piss out of the 2000 fans that went to Derby

This has happened 3 times recently

    What are they thinking ?

    Very poor discipline
He is entitled to a life. As long as it's safe and egal, what he does outside of work is his business.

Not when it affects his game.

Don't be daft , it's OK to have a night out if we are doing OK but at times like this it's taking the piss

He stinks of a podcast appearance in the middle of the 2030's talking about 'what life was really like as a footballer'.

So if you work hard all week and your company loses a client or a bid you can't go out for a drink? Get a grip.

What a stupid comparison. If you lost a bid, or a client, and your own personal performance is one of the reason, and then you are out the very same night acting a jerk and unprofessionally in front of the clients you’ve just lost then it would reflect badly on you and the company you represent.

He’s meant to be a professional athlete. He shouldn’t be on the piss every weekend. He’s not non league anymore.

Pep penalised Grealish for going overboard with the celebrations off season. We are bottom of the league and Tanner is out on the town every weekend like he’s a student not a championship footballer. I’m with Sludge on this one. The boy seems thick as two short planks and his professional career will be a very short one the way he’s carrying on.

If players are like that it leads to injuries, which can't be a good idea given our clubs problems with injuries.

You don't actually get to say when it's ok for him to go on a night out or not, it's got bugger all to do with you or me. I don't think the reason he's playing poorly is he goes out for a few drinks a week before his next game, it's because he's not very good.

I and loads of other fans get to say what we think is acceptable regarding players representing our club

Of course it's not illegal but he's got all summer and international breaks to have a few beers, not a few hours after th e team has had another poor showing in front of 2000 fans who spent money to watch them perform

Very few serious athletes go on the beers these days , it simply doesn't fit in with a professional sporting fitness regime

Even if we were top of the league it doesn't look good

If you think most Cardiff fans hearing about one of our players out on the ale just a few hours after another crap performance are just thinking .....ah well , he's just a young lad , it's a free country etc then you are very much in the minority

This sort of culture is part of the reason why we are where we are

It's not good whingeing about the hopeless boardroom antics when we have players out drinking , not taking care of themselves and picking up good wages for crap performances

    Get a grip my arse

Tony please don't phone up radio Wales on the way back from games if you are going to stick up for players going on the piss whist we are bottom of the league

    You are drowning

You obviously were not listening properly or pissed !

I’m no way did I stick up for that useless bunch of individuals.

What I said was “ Jason and Ian kept using the word TEAM, and I stated in no way were/are a team, they are a side. It’s as if they had just met in the pub for a kick about “

    No Tony

You phoned up to talk about the teams poor performance and you were right we certainly don't look like a TEAM, we look like a side of players

Some of whom look like parks players at times

But it's absolutely ridiculous to criticise the team , or side or whatever if you are going to then stick up for Ollie Tanner to go out on the beers .....especially after another crap performance

Which is what you have done here 🤔

I certainly wasn't pissed listening to your interview as I don't drink alcohol

You and other fans can do what you want with regard to alcohol

But with respect you and the rest of us are not well paid athletes who need to be in good physical condition to win games

Tanner could be a hero for Cardiff , he's got something and against Swansea he did what he's good at , ran at the defender, got to the by line and delivered a great pass that meant Robinson couldn't miss

He needs a good talking to

F*ck me I'm glad you posted this. I hadn't read it until after I'd posted my rant. Yup, Sludge is spot on. I don't think people realise how f*cking hard it is to sell yourself in a world outside the bubble of football. They've got a 10-15 yr window of opportunity. F*cking take it.

Tony you are losing the plot here

    I will explain , again

On Saturday after another shitshow I was listening to radio Wales

You came on , returning from derby

You were saying we just looked like a team of individuals , a side .....and you were right.....certainly not a TEAM , poor individuals

Well done Tony , well said , poor performance , bad result , what's going on ! Etc etc

But today you are on here saying it's no problem players going out on the beers .....in this case Tanner ......absolutely you said ...and who are we as fans to criticise......you were in agreement 🤝 with the post

I think that's nonsense , even more at times like this the players have got to be 100 percent focused and nowhere near the booze

So I think if you are going to criticise the players , management etc for not being a team and playing like a side of boozers ......and you are right ... then u really shouldn't be saying yeah but it's OK for players to go out drinking

Because clearly going out drinking alcohol is not what a struggling player should be doing .....its hardly the image an athlete who is supposed to be representing our club should be giving out ......and if this is a regular thing then this clearly affects fitness

I really hope that's cleared up your confusion 😕

Christ I need a cup of tea

    I said exactamundo to this

it's because he's not very good.

I used to see the Welsh Squad in Jacksons after internationals years ago, but times have moved on, these lot are supposed to be athletes and should be taking care of themselves it's a short career.
