The BBC forecast for Nottingham today is as bad as it gets with heavy rain symbols appearing in every hour throughout the day. I remember Glamorgan winning a Tilcon Trophy at Harrogate in the 80s by coming out on top in an indoor bowl at the stumps competition after the Final was abandoned because of rain, but I assume the trophy will be shared this time?
Very depressing set up. I know Glamorgan ran a bus up yesterday. There can surely be no more frustration in sport than cricket ruined by rain?
Seems its highly unlikely there will be any play today, so yep, a shared trophy..
Aswell as a day bus there were trips including an overnight stay on Saturday. Not cheap either. Such a shame.
Not too long ago the one-day final would be on the 1st Saturday in September. Even then it was felt it was too late in the season, as the early morning dew meant the toss almost determined the result.
The schedule has become a mess and needs addressing.
The last round of County Championship games start on Thursday, so there's no reason why the Final couldn't be played tomorrow if the conditions have eased. It would mean a clash with an England v Australia one day international, but the Final could be shown on something like Sky Mix ot failing that, streamed on You Tube - no one would be disadvantaged by an extra day being given to the game and I'm sure both sides would rather have a definite outcome.
No rain at the moment so they're starting a 20 over game at 11.00am
glamorgan 9-2 at the moment
Two down in two overs. Could be over before it starts raining again
65-4 after 9 overs
What a farce. I'm back home today - just looking on-line and see that Glam are 100-4 in a 20/20 thrash. Did not know the game had started. No email from Trent Bridge. Nothing. Could have gone back today - although to be fair didn't dream there would be any play.
185. 50/50 shout for me.
Why is it a farce? Today was always a reserve day. There's still no guarantee there'll be a result, but they're doing their best to get one. Deciding on a 20 over game from the start was a sensible decision, rather than trying to play a 50 over game with revised targets and Duckworth Lewis.
I had no idea they were playing....
I am just amazed that they are getting a game at all. Given the forecast and the fact that I am in Worcestershire, as you might have guessed, and the rain here - as it has been all day - is biblical!
Missed the Glamorgan innings
Somerset needing more than 2 a ball and we’ve just got Rew out.
just noticed(bit late) its on sky sports now
The weather forecast on the BBC first thing showed most of the rain staying to the south of Nottingham. Given they had the covers on all night, with no rain there was a good chance of a game starting.
Trying to find it on Sky was tricky though.
