The cupping of the ears just seems odd to me. It’s not like he was a player previously in good form and now feels he’s not getting support or getting unfair stick because of a blip in form, he’s been rubbish from the off, his scoring record is shocking especially when you consider he started so many games upfront.

To then double down on Twitter equally poor from him, those away fans have spent a fortune watching some shocking away performances. They don’t need some ego cupping his ears because he finally did what he should have been doing since he joined.

The stupid thing is he probably would have got a lot of praise for his slightly above average performance yesterday and he’s turned it into a negative.
Well put. Made a rod for his own back now.

    Good post.

Cupping his ears to the away fans after scoring his 3rd goal in 50 odd games and therefore silencing all his doubters.

Could have forgiven that in the raw emotion but then to log on to twitter and post that. Ludicrous.

Daft why try and make an enemy of the fans, as people have said work harder and get on with it, if you're giving 100% and scoring a few goals the fans are always with you.

Remember Zohore’s one that bobbled in at Southampton? “I’m back”……when’s he arriving?

ive always thought Meite was a confidence player - if he can follow up this performance with another there's no reason he couldn't go on a bit of a run

I just looked him up to see where he is now. After leaving West Brom in 2023 he made five sub appearances for Odense in the Danish League (0 goals), then signed a 2-year deal with Slask Wroclaw in Poland (8 sub appearances, 0 goals). His contract was terminated in March and he's been without a club since. Still only 30.

As for Meite, if he thinks 3 goals in 52 appearances is good enough, then all the power to him.

I thought he had a spell at Millwall?

He did, but that was in 2020/21 on loan from West Brom before he left them in early 2023.

While his time with us has been disappointing so far, I think he is a fantastic character to have around. While there has to be some self-reflection from Meite, we are not a club which has been very conducive for forward players for some years. Few strikers thrive here. We are an attackers graveyard. Our problems are deeper than individual strikers. I think criticism of our club and players is justified but when fans go on social media personally abusing players and tagging them in their posts, they can't complain when players have a go back.

yeah he seems like a big personality to have in the dressing room - always in the middle of celebrations etc.

Indeed a great senior pro, the youngsters look upto him, he is a big positive influence at the club

Saw a Tweet by Kieran Evans defending Meite this morning and I think he is a popular member of the dressing room who, from videos I’ve seen of him on the club website, seems to be one of those who tries to keep spirits up. However, while there is still time for him to turn things around, we’re now getting to the three quarters stage of his contract and I don’t see how a case can be made for saying he’s been a good signing for us.

He looks overweight and pedestrian to me. His goal record is also very poor. Do you think Riza tells the club's youngsters to aspire to be like him?

I know a member of coaching staff at the club and he says he is very well thought of as a player and always has time for the youngsters

Maybe we should sign Joe Ledley up, if all we’re looking for is someone who can lead the celebrations in the dressing room?

I wish he’d concentrate more on getting the fans’ spirits up.

I think it's pretty obvious what's happening here and we've all missed the point. How many times have we said Meite and Kanga shouldn't be playing? Meite's upset we are saying he's as bad as Kanga, that's it!

Let's be honest, if you had to choose one, it's Meite everytime!

That’s not exactly a ringing endorsement

The first part (about disappointing) or the second part about being a great character?

    I assume the latter.

If you have ever spoken to any player or coach, they say he lifts the dressing room, is a complete pro, has time for the youngsters and is generally well liked by everyone.

Fair enough. Shame about his performances really, although Saturday's was a definite improvement.

Yes, as I said, he has been disappointing - but almost every striker we have has been disappointing - exception being Kaba and a Moore.
