Cardiff city Fan advisory board meeting

    https://x.com/cardiffcityfab/status/...eYonZZvhg&s=19

Following Monday’s FAB meeting at Cardiff City Stadium, Co-Chairs of the Fan Advisory Board have issued the following update to supporters ahead of the weekend's game with Stoke City.
Steve Borley opened the meeting and felt we needed to address the FAB letter and the Club response. A full and frank discussion took place and it was agreed that in the first instance, Steve Borley as Co-Chair of FAB should have had notice of the letter before it was published; it was accepted that this was an oversight of protocol.

In terms of the content of the letter and the Club response, it was accepted that both parties could have toned down the language and that, going forward, better and direct lines of communication would overcome this problem. All representatives agreed that better communication between parties was the way forward and agreed it was in everybody's interest to work together for the common good.

In terms of the points raised,

Question one: Current managerial situation and the process involved

Events had overtaken point one with Omer Riza having been appointed manager until the end of the season. A discussion took place on typical managerial recruitment process, which involved compiling a shortlist from a significant number of approaches that happens when a position becomes vacant; this is typically from far and wide and advice is sought from trusted parties. The Chairman and CEO would typically meet the short-listed candidates and make recommendations, but final decision would be made by the Owner. The Owner has strong views on the type of manager he wants and, in this instance, having sacked a manager on a significant package, he wanted time to assess the interim manager before he made his final decision.

Question two: A clear plan for the current season and the longer term strategic plan

With the ongoing substantial financial support of the owner ‘Sri Vincent Tan’ the club’s strategy is to further invest in its well regarded academy system and to develop the state of the art training facility at Hensol. In addition the owner continues to provide funds for improvements and additions for the first team squad with players who should have enhanced transfer values should they be sold on at a future date.

Steve Borley also referred to the Three Pillar Principle referred to in the Fans Parliament meeting by CEO, Ken Choo. The pillars were outlined as being: progression of youth; playing with an attractive style; and balancing age and experience throughout the squad.

Academy Manager, Gavin Chesterfield presented to the group highlighting the journey and strategy for pre academy players, through the age groups up until integration with the first team squad. The presentation covered the principles, values, development and playing style at each age level. The presentation was supported by statistics and highlighted our standing in performance comparisons with peer groups. Mike Weedon complimented Gavin’s presentation and it was suggested that we combine a mission paper covering the Club’s Three Pillars and Academy Strategy.

Question three: Improved communication and transparency

It was agreed that ‘communication, communication and communication’ would solve this issue. FAB Co-Chair Mike Weedon now a has direct line of communication to Co-Chair Steve Borley on matters of concern, without needing to filter questions via the SLO.

It was also stated that Chairman Mehmet Dalman will continue his regular fans meeting when he attends games and will look to arrange a further Fans Parliament in 2025. The last meeting had a disappointing attendance given the number of acceptances received and so the Club will look to open it next time to a larger number.

    Absolutely pathetic.

Why did the FAB agree words could have been toned down. FFS!!! Useless.

The FAB, Dalman's meetings and Fans' Parliament and all the rest of it is just a shitload of PR bollocks. Absolutely meaningless drivel.

What is Choo's "three pillars"? It sounds like a few vague strategies. Where is the club's mission statement? Eh, Ken?

I managed to read about three paragraphs before I could no longer see due to my eyes rolling back in my head, piss weak from all parties concerned, this club and its representatives (along with those representing the fans) are infuriating!

Re: Cardiff city Fan advisory board meeting

If they want to be official fan groups and engage with the club surely they need to at least follow protocol which they should know.

They have rolled over on their bellies anyway so all seems a bit pointless.

I still maintain the timing of that letter was poor and has resulted in us ending up with Riza, one of many turning points that may see us going down.

nonsense, you're not going to gaslight the fans into taking the blame for the clubs poor decision making, Riza was already in decline results wise long before he was appointed as manager.

besides, when has the club ever kowtow'd to the fans on any decision they've ever made!?

I’m not blaming the fans groups, it’s been mess for a long time, keeping Bulut and then taking so long to replace him was all on the club.

But I 100% believe that Riza was appointed on a permanent basis because of that letter, it was two fingers up to the fans, or was the timing a coincidence? As you say results were in decline.
It that letter hasn’t been put out at that time, my guess is that he wouldn’t have got a new deal and he would have been sacked Wednesday.

So the tactic should be to say how much we dont want a director of football or a proven manager?

If fans ask for tan to appoint managers who have only ever managed in non league over 10 years ago then out of spite tan may appoint someone good if he thinks it will annoy the fans?

Maybe we should start a campaign how much we dont want steve cooper to be our manager and tan may push the boat out to get him to annoy us?

    This is getting confusing!!

Fans letter 01/12 Riza appointed 05/12.

Don’t tell me you didn’t read the letter and think fck they are going to appointed Riza now. Instantly came to my mind as the easy obvious thing the club would do.

If they did then it's another example of how utter shit our board are and this Fans group should have wiped the floor with them.

Rather than rolling over and having their bellies tickled. Really pathetic all round.

    This club deserves relegation.

I'm not a member of any of the fans group and neither will I be, I simply don't want to get that involved with the club, it's a pastime for me. But I do feel if you're going to be on here criticising them, saying how weak they are, they've had their bellies tickled, they should do this, they should do that then you should put your money where your mouth is and show them how it's done

I think they were elected. I neither have the time or the enthusiasm to get that involved in what is ultimately pointless anyway as we know Tan does what he wants.

reading alot on socials about the meeting, appears not many fans are happy with FAB being weak

not sure what response they were expecting, VT holds all the cards and calls all the shots, surely we can see that

if you want more of a say on how the club is r ....... etc etc

I don't agree, taking a step back is the right thing to do at this point, no need to escalate an argument over a letter and risk it becoming a distraction

Exactly the best they can hope for is regular dialog with the club, so breaking protocol they agreed with an open letter seems a bit odd to me. Especially as they had a meeting coming up anyway, unless that meeting was made because of the letter.

The big concern is the trusts continued silence. At least the advisory board are trying to push the club with questions and feedback.

I’m not sure what the trust do.

It is easy enough to check what the Trust does, and if anyone thinks 'they never say or do anything' they have clearly not been paying attention.

Are either or both of you Trust members? If so there are plenty of opportunities to raise your concerns with the chair or elected directors, and to offer your skills and energy to the organisation to make it more effective. Or not - your choice.

this isn't a dig at the Trust, at all, but the whole club from top to bottom is a mess, so whatever actions any of the supporter organisations are undertaking is totally ineffective and falling on deaf ears..

again, that isn't a dig at the Trust, the club is rotten to the core.

I think I was a member initially, they did nothing and didn’t ask its members on a lot of topics and just didn’t what they wanted. Stopped then but haven’t really seen anything of them since. Not something I would look into either. Wish them well in whatever they do tho. I remember the face off with the club when they didn’t recognise them as an entity, that was dramatic.
