    Re: Elon Musk

In May 2024 Marine Le Pen and the French National Rally refused to sit with the German AfD in the European parliament. The AfD were too extreme for them and embroiled in a series of scandals where their leaders were sanitising the Nazi era.

She called for a 'cordon sanitaire' between the parties.

Elon Musk doesn't have the same concerns as Le Pen. In fact he is not only not concerned, he is admiring and totally supportive.

That's why I will never have anything to do with Denmark, Norway & Sweden after what the Vikings did.

Sometimes they are used very loosely - which annoys me. Words have meanings. There may be some scope to argue over the meaning but in these cases (across the political and social spectrum) they are too often just adopted as labels of abuse.

However, you and James and the Tommy Hipster (and Life On Mars when he was with us) go to the other extreme - and (Musk-like) deny any validity to thoughtfully used words that define political ideology or practice. You gut the language of meaning by denial instead of over-use. Just as bad!
sorry johnny guniad i don't understand , you think words should have meaning , and yet you can't define, your idea that i want to ban words is laughable call me a nazi i don't care it means nothing

Odd response. We have defined the words Nazi, fascist, far right, communist, far left and others to death on this board - over years and in recent months. I thought you wanting to open it up again was just a fishing trip. Sharing a rod with James and Gluey.

I have never said you want to ban words - and I dont think you do.

I have gone out of my way to say I dont think Trump, Netanyahu, Farage etc are fascists. But I think they all attract and enable fascists. I think your mate Yaxley-Lennon is. No idea if you are or not - but you do seem to be a fan.

I don't think we have done very well in getting to grips with the meaning of those words at all, given the extent the word Nazi is endlessly used, I also don't think we've seen any evidence of fascist opinions on here at all. No one seems to know what the word means, least of all those who throw it around!

You are obsessed with Yaxley-Lennon! I think you use his two names interchangeably just so you can talk about him twice as much!

'rape genocide apologist' - he's just a genius expressing his opinion

'nazi' - how dare you throw that term around

So Elon Musk did a Nazi salute, then he tried to deflect.

He then goes to Germany to speak to the neo-Nazi AfD party, which he's endorsed, saying Germany should let go of historical guilt (a dog whistle for Holocaust denial).

So Elon Musk is, in fact not a right wing facist fruit loop, hes just a misunderstood loveable rogue.

And for those of you who say words dont matter, this today from Auschwitz Museum.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

    Auschwitz took time.

And finally, a tweet by him on 23/01

Dont say Hess to Nazi accusations!

Some people will Goebbels anything down!

    Stop Gőring your enemies!

    His pronouns wouldve been He/Himmler!

Bet you did nazi that coming 😂.

Joking about some of the people who committed some of the most heinous acts ever seen. Totally normal.

Not sure who you aim this at, but I'll answer anyway.

You've used a strawman argument there. No one has said he's a genius, not least for what he said about Starmer.

If you look here on the "other Musk thread" (cos we really need two!) I said on page 2:

"I completely disagree with him tweeting those things about Starmer and Jess Phillips"

    https://www.ccmb.co.uk/showthread.ph...t-labour/page2

I couldn't be clearer on that.

But surely you can understand; if you think it's outrageous to label someone a rape apologist (and it is!!) then it is even more outrageous to label someone a Nazi. Being tied to mass genocidal murder is worse than being an apologist for rape. They were arguably the worst people to walk the earth so people casually throwing the term around is simply not on. It's also, in my opinion, an absolute insult to the victims of Naziism to casually call people it all the time.

It's 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz today. That should remind people of how serious the term is and to use it with less gay abandon to refer to people who say words they don't like or insult politicians they do like etc.

People really should find another term to use. It's completely inappropriate and crass.

How about the term of 'massive cuunt'?

Is that appropriate? I do concede it's probably a little crass.

Id go with pretty weird bellend, but sure.

It's a matter of opinion but it sounds more accurate than some descriptions!
