You are correct that words should be used carefully.

Sometimes they are used very loosely - which annoys me. Words have meanings. There may be some scope to argue over the meaning but in these cases (across the political and social spectrum) they are too often just adopted as labels of abuse.

However, you and James and the Tommy Hipster (and Life On Mars when he was with us) go to the other extreme - and (Musk-like) deny any validity to thoughtfully used words that define political ideology or practice. You gut the language of meaning by denial instead of over-use. Just as bad!

You've used a strawman argument there. No one has said he's a genius, not least for what he said about Starmer.

But surely you can understand; if you think it's outrageous to label someone a rape apologist (and it is!!) then it is even more outrageous to label someone a Nazi. Being tied to mass genocidal murder is worse than being an apologist for rape. They were arguably the worst people to walk the earth so people casually throwing the term around is simply not on. It's also, in my opinion, an absolute insult to the victims of Naziism to casually call people it all the time.

It's 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz today. That should remind people of how serious the term is and to use it with less gay abandon to refer to people who say words they don't like or insult politicians they do like etc.

People really should find another term to use. It's completely inappropriate and crass.
