Wales and City both. I don't remember Tom really being on Wales' radar but lads like O'Sullivan, Wharton, Abbruzzese and Coxe were but never kicked on, as with most of our youngsters in that period.
It was Declan John who played against Chelsea that day, yes. He's ended up with seven caps but fits into the category of player you're talking about. He was still part of the Wales u-21 squad in 2015. They had a really good 3-1 win here against Bulgaria, with O'Sullivan and Yorwerth getting the goals, and it looked like a new generation of Welsh talent might be coming through but they flattered to deceive overall.
