Think its a slap in the face for Rubin Colwill when you see some of the names who have made the squad.

Good to see Tom Lawrence back.
Theres some shocking picks ahead of Colwill and Ashford. Even Isaak Davies.
Riza stopping picking Ashford cant have helped.
Owen Beck as well![]()
Joe Allen hasn't played since the South Wales derby, Cooper has started 1 game since October from a purely fitness perspective those calls ahead of Colwill/Savage/whoever makes 0 sense
It seems crystal clear that Bellamy doesn't rate Colwill. I don't think it's any more complicated than that.
Ashford's exclusion is more of a surprise to me.
Jordan James aside we may as well not bother listing midfield. Isn't Brooks even more of a forward?
I wouldn't be surprised if Bellamy is the type of bloke who doesn't like losers around his squad, some managers are really funny about that type of stuff, they would rather a player who hasn't been involved in the losing process, even if they have been doing alright I. A team that has been losing ... He's an odd character...
He's got Leicester's Danny Ward and Ipswich's Nathan Broadhead in his squad, so I don't think that applies.
I think Colwill simply hasn't developed in the way that Bellamy would have liked. Paul described his omission as a slap in the face for the player in his opening post. Maybe that's Bellamy's intention. More of a boot up the arse than a slap in the face perhaps.
No doubt he'll be asked about Colwill when he faces the press. It'll be interesting to hear what he has to say.
Colwill’s got the talent to play international football, he was showing that three years ago. However, I thought he was poor last night and that can’t all be put down to him being used in a position which I don’t think suits him. The thing is he’s certainly no better than when he scoring for Wales back in 2022 and last night he got me thinking that maybe the reason his career has plateaued out, or maybe even declined, is that he still plays like a teenager in many ways - he shows very few signs of maturing as a footballer.
You say in another post that Ashford’s omission is a bigger surprise than Colwill’s. I wouldn’t say that for a couple of reasons, first Ashford plays in a position where there is plenty of competition for places, whereas Craig Bellamy has just said in press conference that Kai Andrews’ inclusion has lot to do with the position he plays in, - Bellamy thinks we’re short in that area. That leads me on to the second reason, I thought Colwill’s performance against Villa in a deeper position may have impressed Bellamy - maybe it did, but, clearly, not enough.
Going back to Ashford, I’d rate him as a more mature footballer than Rubin Colwill already - I just don’t get why Riza seems to be off him lately.
I think Colwill is still eligible for the u21s in this campaign, so we'll probably see him and Ashford there.
I am far from Colwills biggest fan and I have been quite supportive about Bellamys opinion on him so far but this one is a head scratcher when you see some of the names included. Colwills performance at Villa alone shows what he is capable of. Other games he has beeh hovering between 6/10 and 7/10 which is more than enough to warrant a place when you look at the squad. Find it baffling he is not in this one
Davies also though I am giving the benefit of the doubt that this is because he has only just come back from a long lay off
