However, I thought he was poor last night and that can’t all be put down to him being used in a position which I don’t think suits him. You say in another post that Ashford’s omission is a bigger surprise than Colwill’s. I wouldn’t say that for a couple of reasons, first Ashford plays in a position where there is plenty of competition for places, whereas Craig Bellamy has just said in press conference that Kai Andrews’ inclusion has lot to do with the position he plays in, - Bellamy thinks we’re short in that area. That leads me on to the second reason, I thought Colwill’s performance against Villa in a deeper position may have impressed Bellamy - maybe it did, but, clearly, not enough.
Going back to Ashford, I’d rate him as a more mature footballer than Rubin Colwill already - I just don’t get why Riza seems to be off him lately.
