I remember a few years back when Klopp was berating a BT Sport reporter live on air after they'd lost in an early kick off, and the reporter had to point out that it was his club who'd negotiated to play at that time so they could be visible in the east Asian market.
So the clubs are not blameless on this. Some may have felt they had no choice (although you can argue their own financial mismanagement was the root cause of that), but I think most of them just saw the dollar signs and didn't consider the long term impact beyond that.
As for our club, the club's ticket pricing is actually one of the few things they've got very right IMO. A ST down the City remains not just one of the cheapest in the Championship, but in the entire EFL.
There could be more done to attract families though. Here in Cyprus, the team my boy supports have traditionally struggled for crowds. So they started doing child tickets for 1 euro (and they give them a small gift at the turnstile). Mine is 13 euros, so basically 5 pounds each. Crowds have doubled in the last 4 years and I'd say well over half of them are families.
