I'd agree with this, it makes you wonder why successive presidents inc. the 1st Trump one didn't de classify and release them.

Just watched a YouTube video of the Nuremberg rallies and it is literally impossible to tell the two apart. The only difference really is that one is in black and white.

There are colour versions of those films, which brings it all to life rather than just some just some historical old film that you can’t relate to.

Good point. In that case it is literally impossible to spot the difference.

On a more serious note, I agree the "Third Reich in colour" footage does make the whole period feel more real.

Understandable they will attack them but it's an absolutely insane story.

I kinda get how these big groups with councillors added and things can happen and people keep quiet and listen in, but this is mad. Some very serious questions of whoever added him.

Presumably they meant to add the person above them in their phone book or something? Extraordinary

I sincerely hope that Trump's rotten empire starts to crack ,sink collapse and all that is left is a blob of lard in a little bowl with a stupid yellow wig on top

That you want the next four years to be an abject failure cos you don't like a leader says a lot about you!

Would you say the same about Hitler?

Do I wish that national socialism in Germany went better than 25 million dead, the near eradication of the Jewish race and a continent in ruins? Of course I do, and so would anyone.

Why do you mention Hitler though? Bit weird.

Military plans shouldn't be discussed on a messaging app, whether a journalist was accidentally added to it (for two days!) or not. Every one of the US's 'allies' now knows for certain not to share any intelligence.

It should be an instant sacking for Hegseth, but it's highly probable that he'll stay in his job, and Trump's policy of putting unsuitable disruptors in charge of everything continues to pay off.

You are overdoing the dense act James.

Success for Trump is not success for the majority in the USA and certainly not elsewhere in the world.

If you are genuinely happy to see Trump ‘drill baby drill’, cut whatever remaining safety nets are provided by the state, remove regulations that limit the scope of his mates to exploit and extract maximum profit, empower reactionaries (including white supremacists and anti abortionists), annex Greenland, Panama and Canada, and turn Gaza into a Vegas-style Trump resort, and for the biggest political thugs on the planet to be given a green light just so Donald can get his tiny hands on a Nobel Peace Prize - then that says a lot about you!

And his self elected role of a provider of balance and common sense on here. In the last few months he’s endorsed Farage and Trump on here, not saying those have to be the actions of someone on the “far right”, but it’s hardly the opinions of someone who looks to provide balance and clarity.

I see you have invested in a new industrial strength cherry picker!

The next four years doesn't actually mean all of those things. In many cases it absolutely will not mean those things. Good governance is rarely the case when someone does exactly what they want.

Do you want to see four years of chaos, misery and failure then? This is the thing isn't it. Things have to be on your terms. Anything else is invalid?

I hope he improves the lives of American people and the world generally. Same as I hope Keir Starmer does and Eluned Morgan does and any other politician.

Some of you want him to fail because he doesn't share your beliefs.

I can see two sides of the coin Bob. Something you seem far less able to do.

I see Jon has lent you his cherry picker too?! On balance I probably woud have voted Republican. If there was an election tomorrow I probably woud vte Reform. But I have also praised Starmer, I've said one post above I hope Labour do well and the lady council elections I gave a vote to Labour.

Again, you see your opinion as the only way and anything else as an aberration but that is simply not how things are

I meant *last* council election of course. No idea who I would vote for in a lady election.

So, in spite of your cherry picker accusations, you confirm that you would vote for Trump and Farage.

Yes and also explained that I recently voted Labour for my local councillor and will praise Labour when it's due which you neglect to mention, hence the cherry picker comment. And you dont "vote for Farage" you vote for a local candidate and I'll tell you now I will never decide how I vote until I see them.

That you find someone voting for the party that just won the presidential (and house) elections and is currently topping about half the polls in ths country as such an incredible thing perhaps says something in itself?

Why do you persist with this hypocritical cant? What you accuse others of is exactly what you do yourself. You regard posters who have a different opinion from you as biased or simple minded. You pose as a model of balance. You are not balanced - or at least no more than anyone else on this board who has formed an opinion and shared it.

And ‘cherry picking’? Good grief! You counter that with your own little package of selected wishful thinking (which shows what is and is not important in your mind) and then play the ‘he won - get over it’ card. That is where references to Germany in 1933 are completely on point. Popularity or electoral success should never be a reason for shutting down opposition or dissent.

I don't view you as simple minded at all. I think you are clearly a very intelligent man. I do think you are very left wing though and that ideological position pervades all thinking in much the same way as it does with many religious people. In that sense I definitely think you are biased.

You can't really accuse people of belittling when you start a post by calling them dense either.

I do think I am significantly more balanced politically than you or Bob or Sludge etc. I see the good and bad in left and right. As mentioned numerous times before, if you only argue things from a left-wing position (as you do) then it's inevitable that any counter position will be to the right of it, but in reality in many cases that is merely arguing a centrist position on something. I also agree with lots of what you say. I should probably highlight that more.

I didn't cherry pick. You did. I said I hope his government is a success and he makes Americans and people in the worlds lives better. That doesn't mean I hope everything he wants he gets. Two different things. But I want him to succeed as success to me is ordinary people's lives improving.

I assume that if we see reports of rising unemployment and inflation or whatever you would view this as a good thing, as the cost would be worth it?

No one is shutting you or anybody else down. The 1933 reference is preposterous.

On a wider point, what I (and us all) should probably do is point out where we agree with each other more.
