Mannsverk carried the ball well at times and looked fairly neat bringing the ball up the pitch, but then may as well of had the shirt number 404 as he had literally no idea what to do with the ball next.
The player who deserved his praise today was Willock who turned out the kind of performance I was hoping he would all season. Keeping full backs busy, delivering crosses and always making himself available to receive a pass. His counterpart on the opposite flank, Ashford, had a day to forget. He was never at the races, struggled to get the ball under his spell, plenty of misplaced passes - and I may have nightmares tonight over the pass he failed to play to Robertson who would have likely been through on goal.
Yup, they talk bollocks, praising up the most basic bits of play, a five yard pass, a player just doing their job etc. Mediocrity is celebrated so much these days it seems, and i don't care if that makes me sound like an old ****. We have players in that squad who have done the square root of **** all this season, yet people are still waiting for them patiently to show their worth. It aint gonna happen, they've had their chance.
The stats looked comprehensive but the dominance was because Oxford were very limited. Despite this we looked like we were ploughing through treacle to get forward and painfully slow to even get a shot off.
Oxford were never interested in scoring, they were quite content allowing us to play ineffectually in front of them and just hope that there chance would come. For all the talk about out poor defence this season, a word for our creative hub in more advanced positions..... Actually two words, non existent. The only time we ever looked good was when the opposition allowed us too, and if people think that's harsh then i don'r really care. This lot are piss weak.
I'm just reading a BBC report which says:
"Despite only having one day to work with his players, Aaron Ramsey oversaw a marked improvement in performance and Cardiff were unfortunate not to win, as Oxford scored with their only shot on target – a thunderbolt from Cameron Brannagan."
Marked improvement? What utter bollocks.
City haven't been able to play forward passes (through the lines for football waanker speak) all season.
The amount of times they actually get behind the oppositions defence is fuucking pitiful.
They deserve to get relegated, 9 wins in this quality of league which is the lowest says it all.
Can I stick my head above the parapet and say I thought Rinomhota had a decent game today, the only one who actually found a bit of space.
Yeah, Alves made a half hearted attempt to close down and then actually got out of the way of the shot.
I don’t think Horvath had a chance once it left his foot, but I do agree with the comment he should be arranging his defense and wall better there. If Brannigan hadn’t shot he’d have probably been able to dribble 10 yards closer to goal as we were totally unprepared. Really poor goalkeeper, the injury to Alnwick hasn’t helped us. Mad to think he was playing in the Prem a few years ago.
