Thread: Tan's Revenge ?

    Tan's Revenge ?

Has he finally got his revenge for the rebellion against his red re-brand ? Powerful men seem to have fragile egos and long memories e g Trump ,Musk Bezos etc . I don' think he ever forgave the fan base for daring to show him a lack of respect . Relegation is his retribution even though he will take a financial hit ,

If so its an interesting way to go about it- to still spend such vast sums of money on wages and agents fees etc with the end goal being to get your own team relegated. Money he will probably never see back.

He's an absolute idiot and deserves the criticism but i think you offer him too much credit to think this could be planned at all. He's just a failure of a man.

No, relegation wasn't Tan's revenge. It was another example of his incompetence.

And yet he is a very successful and competent businessman ? Surely any successful businessman can see that his employee ( Riza)
was totally out of his depth ?

    Re: Tan's Revenge ?

His revenge was to spend hundreds of millions on players and managers, get us promoted to the Premier League a few years after reverting to blue just to relegate us more than a decade after the rebrand?

    Bit convoluted no?

You obviously haven't read about how he got his start in business.

Maybe hell switch us back to red for next season. The last time brought us promotion luck!

He should buy Wrexham, in red and close to his beloved Liverpool and Man Utd…..in fact most people from Wrexham already follow them both….

And nothing to do with the fact that TG had appointed Malky Mackay, our best manager of this century, before Tan came to City?

I wonder what the Kortrijk fans did to him?

Hes just an incompetent fool when it comes to running a football club.

It's taken ten years and millions of dollars to achieve "Tan's Revenge"? I think not. Tan et al are incompetent, but not that incompetent.

MM might have been the most successful manager in getting us to the prem, but give me the style of football and the attacking players we had under Dave Jones, any day of the week to MM. Just a pity he could never get us over the line

Jones had too many dickheads, that's why we never got over the line. If we had done, we'd have stayed up comfortably had we signed a few good defenders. Blackpool POF is up there in terms of the worst day of my life, I'd say.

I think that was genuinely the last time I went to a City game fully convinced we'd win.

    A bizarre speculation.

Yes, I too enjoyed the attacking players we had under Jones but it never got us promoted. When we won the EFL Championship under Mackay we were top since November that season with a goal difference of +27 and 8pts above the second place club. I'd certainly settle for that now.

    Re: Tan's Revenge ?

I don't doubt he thinks he is doing the right thing. Which is a shame as he almost always makes the wrong decision and sometimes the right decision at the wrong time. It's a bloody skill.

I've never really looked into his business empire but I'd be amazed if he bundled and blagged his way through it in much the same way as he does the football club. Does he consistently hire novices to run his companies?

I would like to hear a proper long format interview with him where he opens up a bit on his thought process, not the usual snippets of pre planned interview questions. Would be fascinating for one reason or another.

    Re: Tan's Revenge ?

We got relegated because of managerial and board incompetence, not malice.

Is it Bulut's revenge we lost the first 5 games of the season?

There is no situation on earth where it would be beneficial in any way for Tan to see us relegated.

Yes. And he will have noted that Wrexham got promoted in red and Liverpool has won the Premier League.
