Colwill is the new Jason Fowler, there's bags of ability there somewhere, shame we only see it briefly and in small spurts. I agree though, I think he'd be better off leaving, I think he needs to be given more responsibility and that can only come playing week in week out. Maybe you then you might see more consistent performances from him
You know what he means 😂 Ramsey does need to go though, it's all a bit embarrassing now. The management thing isn't on him, although he shouldn't be anywhere near being considered for the job, and he can't play anymore, and that's on him, he needs to stop. Even Joe Allen has had a word with himself this week.
Colwill is similar to the Brexit debate. You are either all in or all out, and nothing, even time, adjusts your opinion.
8 "philosophies" in 5 years is insane, ranging from a defensive straitjacket of Bulut to Riza's express yourself in the same season.
We can all see the talent, and so will loads of scouts at good clubs; we are just not getting an earth-shattering fee.
He hasn't pace to lose, so he has 10 years ahead of him. He needs to be deeper but with a license to roam. That's not a free pass; it's the toughest job on the team. The new manager needs to know what he wants to do, see if he fits, and not shoehorn him in.
I think we'd get a million if we let it be known that he is available
That first line re like brexit is bizarre. Have you actually read this thread?
I'm saying and others are if he has time and space etc he can be really good. He will be good in league one and I look forward to him getting many MOTM displays.
I'm also saying if closed down and versus an effective defence and midfield then he isn't good enough. In the Championship even though it's not great quality most sides are able to scrap and organise.
I'm not sure if that makes me for or against him?
He's flawed. Under Riza we would start on the front foot, Colwill and others would look half decent for 20 minutes or so without creating anything, the opposition would get a grip on things and that would be that, Colwill and the rest of them would continue to do the same things that weren't working and fail, that's not me saying it, the evidence in there for all of us to see, it's in black and white, and I include all players, not just Colwill. So, decent for the first 20 and sometimes decent in the final 20 when he had come on as sub, because the game had changed and we were looking for a goal, opposition sit in, more space, more possession, still nothing, week after week after week, that's all of them, although I suppose Salech has a free pass.
So there's a theme, and the theme is that once the opposition understands what we are doing and that our players are limited, can't adapt and hysterically keep doing the same things that fail them collectively, then it's pretty much game over, and it was....
Colwill has undoubtedly been overhyped and had too much expectations thrust upon him, but I think there is a player there who is still growing and has still not hit his prime. Getting rid would be too presumptuous, and it's not like he's eating a massive wage bill, nor will we get that much for him at the moment. He's someone who will benefit a lot playing League One, maybe alongside his brother. Next season I think will be the big deciding factor for Colwill, he's been surrounded by shit in a tough league this season, but against easier opposition, has a chance to gain confidence and ability. If he's still in the same position as he is this season, then I'd say it's probably time to move on.
Ralls was a better player, but I think he's finished now, his legs have gone and he's so injury prone, same with Ramsey. I can't see any reason to keep either of them, although is Ralls still under contract? Ralls could be that player with the experience needed at league 1 level, but you know what, I'd shift him if he's out of contract, he'll be on a decent scree, even if there's a clause for a pay cut. Ramsey just needs to retire and concentrate on his Booze business....
The point I was making is that there are two distinct camps, and neither will have what the other camp says.
Our wider group meets up in the Grange after a game every four or five weeks, and the main conversation inevitably is Colwill.
I am in the he is only just 23 in a body that only stopped growing with a vision not seen since Whitts and Tomlin, his execution isn't where it needs to be, but he is still young. He is not 10 or even a forward, but you go think so because of the touch, dribbling and vision. He has been used centre forward !!!! I think he is an 8 at the top of a double pivot, but in a team that should be on the front foot, rather than the backs to the wall CCFC of the last four seasons.
Half my mates think he is a slow, lazy, over hyped show pony that offers nothing, and they'd give him away for free. We'll disagree on every point for hours, and it's been like that for two seasons, neither group give an inch.
I can't think of a player thats split the fans as much as Colwill since Whitts.
I just watched the highlights and I don't think I've ever seen such a pathetic attempt at being a goal keeper than Horvath yesterday. I never want to see him play for this club again.
Also the ref didn't need to blow up when he did and send Chambers off (although we eventually improved when we wasn't on the pitch). The ball ran free to Nunez who was 1 on 1 with our feeble keeper,
