Birmingham are after Salech apparently.
Wrexham supposedly interested in Tanner and Davies, but not Robinson as previously rumoured.
I'd take 30m for Salech, that's the price for a half-decent Premiership striker like Muniz. But no way Birmingham go that high, 15m is high for a Championship player.
Only thing is, I don't trust this ownership to spend the money responsibly.
Depends on what they offer. They aren't lines in the sand to not get rid of outside of an insane offer like Salech or Robertson, but I don't particularly want to lose them for a paltry sum, Davies especially.
Tanner is in that Wintle camp of me being not sure what to make of him. He can come in clutch sometimes, but often can become a passenger and get outclassed.
What we don`t know is which of our players still under contract have told the club they want to stay and which have said they want to leave rather than drop down to League 1 level.
For the latter group then I believe the club should say OK you can go but only if your agent gets the club a very good transfer fee offer. They are under contract and the club doesn`t otherwise have to let them go, but we want players who want to be here and who will give their all on the fields rather than "down tools" like a Keiffer Moore.
I would love to keep Salech if possible as he should be great at League 1 level and enhance our chances of an immediate bounce back to the Championship, provided we reinvest the money from the players who want to leave into new signings who can be leaders on the field (we will need players of the Morrison and Kavanagh type to be physically and mentally strong who will also bring the best out of the younger players around them).
Before we talk about players we actually need a management and coaching set up whatever that is.
We also need a huge boardroom shake up. But it seems it's going to remain unchanged which is a recipe for further struggles.
Players in the club and any who come in will have been coached since they were 8yr olds. For me it's the recruitment that has screwed this club. Bulut, Riza, Ramsey, all failed to get a winning side on the pitch with this squad. Whoever our super -wonderful new manager is, he's going to have exactly the same problem..
I’d be surprised if we make much of a profit if any on Salech. With the new rules on not spending more than 60% of income on wages, I can see a fire sale of any players we can to fund the expensive wages of players that we can’t get rid off (Chambers, Willock, Daaland)
Okay, I decided not to be lazy by leaving the research to others.
So, here we go....
Joe Ralls featured in 22 Championship games for the 2024/25 season.
Of those games, he started 11.
He played the full-90 minutes 5 times.
He's been a great servant to the club, no doubting.
However, it's a two-way thing. Ralls hasn't had to keep up-rooting his family, moving to far corners of the country, living out of a suitcase in hotels, like so many other professional footballers have had to do. He's never been faced with the challenge of trying to win over a new set of fans (like Peter Whittingham had to at Blackburn).
We can't be nostalgic. His time has come I'm afraid.
Dalman's said he expects 5 or 6 of the out of contract players to leave and that the squad probably needs to come down to about 25 or 26. Expecting a few more to not fancy L1 plus 3 or 4 to come in, maybe experienced L1 players. Also said we don't need to sell our best players to balance the books.
