Aaron Ramsey
Dave Challinor
Des Buckingham
Ian Evatt
Michael Beale
Nathan Jones
Richie Wellens
Rob Edwards
Ruben Selles
Tommy Elphick
I went for Ramsey, as I feel he'd only take it if we got change at the top. That's more meaningful than anything else.
If we could get that change, and someone else, I'd go for Selles
The Ramsey business amuses me no end.
For most of last season we had a guy who had a decade of coaching experience at various levels but practically zero managerial experience, and it was a disaster. Now there are some fans who genuinely want to see a guy appointed who has zero coaching experience and zero managerial experience. It's bonkers.
If Ramsey had emerged from Bristol City's academy and become an England international, nobody would want him anywhere near the job. But because he came through our academy and he's Welsh...
Ramsey has openly spoken about the need to restructure the football club at the top. That is the most important thing. We can appoint any manager but theyre set up to fail without change as theres no structure and the recruitment is a joke. He wouldnt be in the running for me if we were run properly but we arent and we need a manager who can force that through.
At least we’ve saved the club some money and have a decent shortlist of Selles, Challinor, Jones & Wellens
Which one could get us out of League Two?
Bellamy spent years working with Kompany learning his trade.
Literally no-one would want Ramsey anywhere near the job if he wasn't from the academy. It's like no-one has learned from Morison, Hudson and Riza. You can't just give these guys jobs based on vibes, they at least need to display some experience coaching at a decent level before throwing them into a management gig or it's going to fall flat again
I have to admit to never having heard of Evatt before his name came up as a possible managerial candidate here.
So I read about him and it isnt clear (to me anyway) what makes him a stand out candidate. Promotion from L2 and the EFL Trophy is decent but what am I missing?
I'll back Ramsey if he's chosen, but I want better.
I'll back anyone who's chosen.
Challinor, Buckingham, Evatt, Wellens or Elphick would all be interesting choices
Jones
We will probably have more of an idea after the league 1 play off final. If Charlton get promoted we can cross off Nathan Jones.. If they lose he'll be a definite contender
5. Ian Rush
he got 87 points with Bolton last season, and scored 86 goals in the process.
I think that's more league goals than we've scored in a season since 00/01 when we were battling it out with Chesterfield and Brighton in the old division 3 (or the even older div 4).
Has 2 promotions and a minor cup win on his CV and lost in the playoff final last season.
there's every chance he could be terrible here, or he could be just what we need.
Robbie Keane now rumoured on Twitter.
I hope not: Limited experience of the sort we seem to need next season, gathered a lot of baggage from his stint coaching in Israel, assistant to 'Mad Mick' for Ireland and 'Big Sam' for Leeds. On the other hand his playing record, style and approach might be the secret to unlocking the too much hidden talent of Rubin Colwill!
Just been reading his Wiki entry and see that he is a cousin to Morrissey. If only he was also a devotee of futbol one of our number would be in seventh heaven!
Just read a Tweet by Dafydd Pritchard of the BBC saying City are “hoping” to make a managerial appointment by the end of May - Gerrard and Beale not being considered apparently.
