I think Perry is a legend. Played for us for 10 years, nearly 300 games, captain, one of our own, great rapport with the fans and was part of the Eddie Mays double winning side in 92/93. I think a lot of fans loved that side and the connection between players and fans was great in those days, “Psycho” especially.
As you say no-one is right or wrong, it’s personal preference but for me I don’t even think Craig Bellamy as a Cardiff Legend, I certainly wouldn’t have him in an all time Cardiff City Legends XI.
Personally, I can’t believe Andy Legg never even got a mention. Maybe your definition of a football legend is different to mine.
Fair point about Leggy, I just didn’t think of him this morning - I think Alf Sherwood still gets in my team because he gave City fantastic service with much of it in the old First Division, but Leggy would be second choice.
Paul, did you see that I mentioned Billy Hardy in the other thread. A shoe in for a legends XI, maybe our club’s biggest legend with his longevity and achievements from seeing us into the Football League to runners up in both FA Cup & League and FA Cup winner.

I'm not entirely sure there is a definition of "club legend" but as loyalty, in my view, forms part of whether someone is assessed as being a legend or not I would not object if Richie Morgan was described as a legend.
For me the word that describes Jason Perry is 'stalwart'. Loyal, dependable, fighting for the cause etc but not a particularly talented footballer. I know they can't all be like Whitts, but JP wouldn't even get close to being in my legends team.
Agree about Richie Morgan, i picked Bellamy and Bamba predominantly for non football reasons.
For me, to qualify to be a legend I think you have to automatically think of the club when you think of the player. I'm not sure that's true of Bellamy

I didn’t consider John Charles because I based it on what the players did for City.
I think the first task is to identify the ‘legends’
by agreeing the criteria.
For me that is ‘making a significant contribution to CCFC. The bar should set high.
Robin Friday maybe remembered for some of the brilliant and absurd moments but to me is not a legend.
Some that are:
Peter King played for us for 13 years week in week out. Ernshaw, Chopra and Whitts all made a significant contribution as did Jason Fowler.
There are many others.
The only other consideration would be legends that have appeared for CCFC although not all would qualify for us a legend.
Ie John Charles would, Fowler wouldn’t.
Jack Evans has got to be in the mix, actually helped in the construction of Ninian Park, scored our first goal there. Our first player to be called up by Wales. I think he scored our first football league goal in 1920. Unfortunately missed the pelanty at St Andrews which cost us the league championship. Was with us for 16 years making over 350 appearances, a decent number considering the WW1 suspension of fixtures. From non league with us to 1st Division regular was some achievement.
I would certainly include John Toshack in my City Legends team but there is a caveat that applies to him, Craig Bellamy and John Charles in that they had higher profile careers at other clubs, same as Aaron Ramsey. But to be fair to Tosh he was here for 5 years before being sold to Liverpool, long enough to cement his place in the pantheon of City greats.
Alf Sherwood has always fascinated me, the first three years of his career were war years and would have probably bumped up his appearances even further, sub keeper for club and country, my father, who was from Penrhiwceiber used to wax lyrical about how tough he was, even after leaving the City he clocked up over 200 appearances for Newport and further Welsh caps and apparently a gentleman to top it off.
Don’t know if it’s true or not, but my Dad used to tell me that Stanley Matthews would often cry off from Blackpool visits to Ninian Park because Sherwood always marked him out of the game.
