    Generous…or was it BBMs fault?

As on Saturday, BBM only really had Wintle in the middle. Colwills too far up. We were out-middled

Apart from not dragging them off earlier, the abject performances of Willock and Tanner could not have been improved by BBM.

3 out of 10 max for those two.

    BBM 5
4/10 for Willock is extremely charitable.

Not sure what Trott did wrong to only get a 5.

As for Ashford getting 5, he was completely anonymous when he come on and kept passing the buck. A pet hate of mine as a winger. Quite why he was put on before Isaak I don’t know.

Tanner lucky to have 3. He didn’t do one single thing right last night. Every single cross was shit and his passing no better.

BBM clearly works on him staying really wide so Kpakio can give him the ball then sprint inside him for a return and he just can’t get that simple return pass right. To the point where he passing it straight out for a goal kick. He did it Saturday too, For a professional football its pathetic.

Honestly don’t know what the club was thinking tying him down for 4 years.

I'm not sure Robinson even touched the ball after being on the pitch for around 20 minutes so 'n/a' for him. 5 for Trott. 4 for the rest except Tanner who gets 3 for turning up.

You’re right about us playing very wide.

It’s frustrating seeing it passed from one side to the other on repeat

We need to have a mixed approach - sometimes out wide and into the box, sometimes through the middle

I fear BBM talks a lot about repetition and processes

Bagan should have been lower for the stupid challenge.

    Was he on the pitch?

Tanner needs to be dropped. I don't want to see Pillock in a City shirt ever again. Has he ever had one really good game for us? I'd give the rest all 4/10 apart from Trott as he didn't do anything wrong, so he gets 7/10.

What about him denying a tap-in in the last 10 minutes? He saved us a point there.

    Robinson didn’t lookinterested

I thought Trott did well on his debut
Not sure why Tanner and Willock scored so highly, I’m still trying to work out how they both came out for the second half??
Chambers isn’t the commanding strong centre half needed and Fish can probably think he was hard done by making way for him.

This fixture home to us, might be a lot of teams cup final, that being the case we had better get use to that in your face approach that they certainly had in the opening 20 minutes or so.

That said we came away with a point and a clean sheet in a game where we didn’t really turn up

We need a couple of good experienced players in this league who understand how to battle imho

Tanner 2 - worst game I’ve seen him play. Awful in every aspect of his game
Salech 6 - not sure what else he could do apart from become Ronaldo or Messi and win the game himself
    Willock 3 - awful player

    My thoughts above

Trott 8 - good with his feet and made a few saves to keep us in it, was my MOM by a long way

Kpakio - 5 got caught out of position a lot
Chambers 4 - agree, never a centre half
Lawlor - 3 out muscled and had a bad start this season

Willock 2 - awful player, 3 was to generous

Subs. None of them had an impact, Fish was the best of them.

The simple fact is that we don't have an effective winger at all.

    Re: Marks out of ten.

I know I’m a boring old fart, and Tanner and Willock were absolutely useless, but why didn’t he just try swapping them over at some point. I think it’s great to see the wingers hugging the touch line, but it’s then on their wrong foot and the tendency is to cut in. At least just give it a go swapping sides. It couldn’t be any bloody worse.

I must have popped into the kitchen for a beer when Robinson came on. I genuinely didn't know he was on the field until injury time.

As regards Trott, I thought he had a decent debut and couldn't have done anything more than he did. Clean sheet, looked a pretty safe pair of hands and his distribution was good.

    Re: Marks out of ten.

My worry with this team and manager is the game we are trying to play. Its all well and good playing possession football when teams give you space to do so, any team can do that. But when you have an opposition that's pushes up man for man you need a team and a midfield general who can calm things and take control. We dont have that, we are trying to play a game we dont have the talent to justify and last night and and the whole of last season proved that. This is a poor, poor team and having wintle in Front of the back 4 just sums up how bad. We need quality urgently.

Saturday he set one up, laid on a plate for Salech who should have scored and perfectly set up Colwill who also should have done better second half. There was also a cross first half, similarly pulled back to Colwill but I can't remember if that was Tanner.

Kept his width, had good control and tracked back well. Forced the keeper into a good save.

I'd say that was a good performance.

    Yesterday the opposite.

Peterboro gave Wintle space, he was MoM and dictated the game.

Port Vale crowded Wintle, he rarely had an out ball and we were stifled.

We’re very predictable, transparent and repeatedly try the same patterns. We’re very easy to defend against, as we have a limited numbers of plays.

How are you giving Bagan a 5? 3 at best. He is a defensive liability and useless in the air. Needs replacing

    Re: Marks out of ten.

Trott 3 - i dont share the opinion he looked calm...more like half asleep maybe due to jetlag? very slow reactions to offside goal and near misses

Kpakio 3 - full of praise in his first game..but this one? seemed bewildered at times..the few nice passes dont make up for his meandering
Chambers 1 - sorry..hes shit and nothing has convinced me otherwise
Lawlor 2 - marginally better than chambers..not a fail ..yet.
Bagan 4 - poor final ball at times and a bit unlucky with the yellow card i thought

    Wintle 5 - no frills

J Colwill 4 - did ok but his hacking away at the opposition is a bit naive and will concede more free kicks than win the ball
R Colwill 6 - the only person who actually looked confident on the ball and appeared could create a spark any moment. Just not used enough

Tanner 3 - im a big fan..but very poor and maybe shouldve been hooked sooner
Salech 3 - no idea how this kid is ahead of robinson..we need to bring Salach on for 10 minutes and start robinson
Willock 3 - i think hes under rated..unfortunately this is one of few games he has lived up to the criticism

    Subs

Fish 6 - no frills and brought some sorely lacking stability..just a shame it wasnt on for chambers
Turnbull 5 - shouldve started, clearly strong at this level
Ashford 3 - weak..im a hoper but in both games ashford has been a luxury player
Robinson 4 - nice touches but no huge impact in his very limited time on the pitch..
Davies - didnt touch the ball?

BBM 3 - not convinced. We just played against a newly promoted team from league 2 and made them look like Barcelona at times due to our caveman hoofball tactics

Wouldn't argue with any of your ratings, but eh? If anything we probably need to learn to go more direct to Salech in some of these type of matches.
