Arrested after his call to slit the throats of the far right nutters alleged to be turning up at a Walthamstow immigrant centre
Hes got to be looking at a prison sentence for that or it plays into the hands of the " two tier justice " lunatics .....that Lucy Connoly got 2 years ...

Not guilty. I think he's a lucky man there
Many will think that. I wouldn't go that far cos it is quite a dangerous conclusion to draw, but its not hard to see why millions will.
The obvious comparison is with Lucy Connolly who was jailed for more than two and a half years. She did plead guilty though. That was presumably based on some kind of legal advice though, and reading about it at lunch, she wasn't granted bail whereas he was, and there's also a difference with an immediate trial and one that takes place more than a year later.
I actually think what she said was (marginally) worse. However, she did delete it and she isn't an elected official. Quite how some things can be interpreted literally and others figuratively I am not sure, but there we are.
Having done jury service I think it's important to respect it but in terms of the wider "two tier justice" arguments, I do think they would have been lessened if he had been found guilty and sent down.
Me too but you would need to be a complete numbskull to even begin to believe that the government would enact some kind of grand conspiracy infiltrating and strong-arming a jury in order to save some feckin nobody councillor. Number 10 would have been praying he went down for it as its less of a headache from a comms perspective. Farage will be rubbing his hands together at the verdict.
You talk about Farage and a daft circus in the context of a Labour councillor who talked about slitting throats.
No one in Farages party has ever said such a thing. If he's s circus, what is the party who put this fella forward as a councillor and then had people surrounding him applauding his words?
A Reform UK candidate saying "one big nuke bomb" should be used to remove Islam from the world

Are you deliberately being silly ?
Reform is absolutely chock full of candidates and officials saying offensive things regarding race , women , immigration and plenty have already been outed and stepped down or been forced to resign
Many have criminal convictions for harassment, public order , violence
I think you are playing the arse again
What about guns?
https://www.itv.com/news/2024-06-27/...arget-practice
I can see that you support Reform and are in complete denial about what they are really about
Within days of being elected one idiot resigned because he was posting pro Hitler stuff .....thats a famous racist mass murderer .....on his social media pages
Another was online saying shoot the migrants in their boats as they arrive
There are lots more examples , Reform is rotten to the core
Oh for God's sake. For once, be able to talk about something without putting it onto something else. For goodness sake Sludge.
Every sane person knows there's good and bad in all parties. You need to inject whataboutery when it's wholly unnecessary and actually a bad look.
Reform are borderline racists .....and often fully paid up ones ....trying to be a serious party
They are a bunch of clowns
You have just said that Reform hasn't got a record of people saying extreme things in its ranks well you have just been showed that it does ....
I dont vote conservative but alongside the greens , Plaid, SNP , libdems etc these parties are not attractive to xenophobes and racists
But Reform is , some people have been waiting for years to throw their vote behind the extremism they poke away with . And that's why the social media activity of elected members , sponsors and supporters tells the story . These people not talking about social care , transport hubs , investment or the lack of nurse training etc
They are a one trick pony and a bunch of clowns
Just once, if we could have a thread without the tribalism! We know Sludge. Every thread you will call people you don't like fascists, clowns, Nazis, whatever. We know what you think. You don't need to inject that into everything! 🙏
Its not that I dont like Reform , I dont like the conservatives but its not a party based on xenophobia and racism
I dont like kemi badenoch or braverman or Patel but nor do a lot of traditional tories
But the more Farage stokes the fires of racial unrest the more his followers like it
He knows exactly what hes doing , hes racism in a suit
He doesnt want genuine discussion and debate about immigration , crime , health .....he just wants his fans shouting and screaming at his never to be achieved promises
I am staggered that you portray yourself as a moderate right leaning conservative but are voting and supporting this utter weasel
Your claim that all the other parties are as bad is laughable
The more extreme the comments the more reform voters lap it up
Its like Witchfinder General with Vincent Price
I think the problem is that for too long others haven't wanted a proper debate about immigration and it's been endlessly insulated that discussing it is racist. Which is absurd. No doubt that's a motivation for some, but the idea that the flow of people into a society is not important is ridiculous and there is a lot of division coming from whats happened in the last twenty years.
I don't greatly like Farage. I think he's probably a jovial character but I don't like a lot of the rhetoric. What I do think is that the country needs massive reform (small r) and he is talking about some of the things that need talking about, cos we are at a pretty serious junction in society in terms of housing affordability, people not being able to afford kids and what I fear is some genuine sectarianism that simply didn't used to exist. I really do fear in twenty years or so we may up divided much like Northern Ireland was (along different lines of course) unless integration vastly improves.
Anyway, this is an entirely different thread. What I was grumbling about is why a thread about a Labour councillor giving a speech about slitting throats to a cheering crowd somehow ends up in you calling out another group! But there we are!
