Not sure Paul, I remember a few visits there on that open end. Can you remember them playing at The White City Stadium? I vaguely remember their 2nd spell there in the early 60s. I reckon they should have stayed there, 90 odd thousand capacity, obviously with a bit of rejigging a la The Valley it could have been brought down capacity wise to something decent for them.

Weirdly wonderful, and of it’s time, fact was that a group game of the ‘66 World Cup was played at The White City due to Wembley refusing to postpone the greyhound racing. Imagine that nowadays.
