I’d say people to the right of Reform are far right, but I’ve not mentioned the hotel protests by name, my point in starting this thread was that I don’t get why Jenrick was pursuing the section of the electorate that he is - it seems to me that he’s likely to lose rather than gain support there.
200 is 200 too many.
There are 900,000 young people out of work in the UK. There are hundreds of thousands of young working Brits who can’t afford to buy their own homes or rented accommodation.
Public services are being slashed, jails are getting over crowded, NHS is under pressure, not enough police on the streets, the rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer,
Consecutive governments are borrowing billions of pounds. We are sending millions of pounds in foreign aid,
If ordinary people ran their homes and businesses like consecutive governments run the UK, they’d be homeless and penniless in weeks.
Why are we as a country, who can’t even look after our own residents properly, taking in migrants in their thousands, on a daily basis ?
Who is paying for their accommodation, food, clothes, health care etc ?
If people are prepared to hurl abuse at people in hotels , they are far right as far as I am concerned
There was a demo outside barry council offices yesterday and some of the idiotic comments and abuse towards old ladies holding anti racist placards up was pathetic
If these people dont like being called far right then behave like peaceful but concerned individuals rather than self righteous " patriots" , swearing at old people whilst swigging on beer cans
The term lefty or commie has been thrown around for years so the far right can do one
Not by threatening people in hotels or firebombing them
There was a huge backlog that this current government.....who we all know are crap....have had to house
Even so the number of hotels has dropped from 400 to 200 .....thats a huge reduction but clearly your comment outlines that for some thats not good enough
Firstly the migrant situation is always going to be with us and has worsened considerably since we left Europe.....farage was the main pusher for that.....now that's failed hes just blaming the migrants , hes an asshole
I would rejoin Europe......but thats not going to happen so Labour ....who havnt been in for a strawberry season are getting blamed for the last 14 years .....this problem didnt start when Starmer took over
That being said hes crap , if he can be ousted it would be an idea for a cross party conference or whatever it is they call it to hammer out some realistic policies whilst accepting we will always have immigration
You havnt offered any solutions but if its just stop the boats , close the borders , zero net migration etc thats just farage talking which may get him votes but hes not going to be able to do any of that
That is my solution to the migrant problem. Stop letting in migrants now. Not tomorrow, now.
We are an island. It’s easy.
We have to get our own house in order, before we let any more in.
Folk like you are so blinkered in their political views that you just can’t be taken seriously.
Both the Conservatives and Labour, have been absolutely pathetic since the day I was born.
So ....
1 ....Stop The Boats .....a very small figure of overall migration .....how are you as home secretary , tomorrow , doing this ?
2 . Shut the borders to new migrants ....or only illegal migrants ? How are you going to do this ?
Airports, trains etc .......more to deal with there ......how are you going to do this ?
1 - Goes without saying that firebombs and threats are wholly wrong. Any group doing so would be proscribed. You also know that's a mischaracterisation of what's happened.
2 - There was - and is - a huge backlog. The numbers arriving has grown. The number of hotels in use has declined from its peak but that nearly entirely happened before the last General Election, so Labour can't claim credit for that.
3 - Being "in Europe" isn't the answer. Unless you've been living under a rock for a few years, they are facing the exact same issues, only worse in many cases as they don't have a channel stopping people entering their countries.
As for solutions, it's increasingly clear we need a rapid reworking of human rights laws which simply were not made for this era. You can't have anyone from a country with problems coming into a country with its own (but far less extreme) problems. We simply cannot cope and it's plainly causing very significant social issues. It's also immoral as hell to reward the richest and fittest who can arrive at the cost of others far more needy.
On top of that some real disincentives are needed. I suspect Labour strongly regret their opposition to the Rwanda scheme now.
The people who set the Rotherham hotel on fire and others who indulged in rioting and intimidation are in prison and thats great . No other words are necessary , they got exactly what they deserved .
I know these days you vote reform so its pointless trying to debate wether trying to burn down a hotel is or is not rioting but the courts put loads away so you keep living in a dreamworld
Two Asian thugs attacking the police ......naughty boys , send them to prison .....loads of racists out of control ...oh we have to look at the reasons , let's not be hasty here
The labour government, as crap as they are have halved the number of hotels being used ....they absolutely deserve credit for that
But its not enough and as you havnt suggested anything apart from Rwanda....which is nonsense .....I will wait for WT to finish his tea and give me stone cold solutions to the migrant situation
Nah Labour haven't reduced the hotels. Well, very marginally. The big reduction came before the general election (see full facts below). I don't view that as great either, as it's just shifted people into HMOs, taking much needed housing and paying landlords a much better rate than they otherwise would get!

Stats from Jamie Jenkins this morning, its a complex subject and as we have seen for quite a period of time, and however/when it is solved these figures aren't sustainable, are they ?

TAKEN FROM X!!!
BREAKING - A record 111,000 asylum claims were made in the UK last year — the highest ever recorded.
Claims are up 90% since 2021.
Almost half arrived illegally, mostly by small boats.
Labour promised control. Instead, more chaos.

FWIW, i don't blame anyone from a country destroyed by the Bushes, Obama's, & Clinton's in trying to flee from
their homes, its the root cause that needs to be fixed, once this is done the result will take care of itself.
