Thread: Legia v Hibs

    Legia v Hibs

Always watch the Hibs games when I can, as my mate who’s a jock, but lives here in Cardiff is a Hibee. He also goes to City games when he can.
Watching them now on the fire stick.
Unbelievable game. Hibs 2-1 down from the home leg, and 1-0 down tonight have scored 3 quick 2nd half goals to lead 3-1 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate
Junior Hoilett just given a red card, but downgraded to a yellow after VAR intervention.
By the way, my mates over in Poland at the game, and txt me this morning, saying that the Hibs owners put 30k behind the bars in the fanzone today Brilliant gesture. 👏👏

Looks like they are heading out now, which is a shame.

I enjoy the early rounds of Europe and have watched a few games on iplayer/S4C etc involving TNS, Linfield, Larne, Hibs, Aberdeen, Rangers.

Which channel? I couldn’t find it on the fire stick. They had Aberdeen on bbc Scotland.

All over for Hibs. Legia winning 5-4 over the 2 legs. Another bad European campaign for the jocks. Rangers, Celtic, Dundee Utd, Aberdeen and Hibs all horsed out of their competitions before the end of August 😁

It’s been a terrible week in Europe for the Scottish Premier Parks League. Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

It has, but they still end up with three teams in the group stages which they often don't. And Hibs, after this let down will look back on a pretty amazing if short European run.

Old firm derby on Sunday and both sets of fans are pretty furious, so if will be an interesting one.

Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen are all still in Europe. Europa League x2 and the ECL

The thing is though, however bad jock football gets, at least they play in their own country, and don’t have to hang on to the English leagues apron strings like we have to 😁

Correct, but not in the competitions they started out in.

I lived in Edinburgh for a short period and went to a few Hibs games. Great club

Went to Edinburgh for Wales v Scotland with my local Workingmans club.
One of my Mates had to drop out, so asked my Mate who is a an old school City header from Ferndale.

Wasn’t interested in the rugby at all really, spent the weekend doing speed and ****ing about with Hibs Casuals that he’d met a few years before on Holiday :)

We were invited into the English domestic system by the Football League, what should we have done? Declined the invitation because we weren’t entitled to play against the best English sides?

We’re in a league system that a good few Scottish clubs envy, they’d love to be allowed into the English pyramid.

I’m genuinely surprised how you and ToBW have spectacularly missed my point.
I’m well aware of our history and how we got to enter the English system.
My point is, and always has been on this topic, that whilst a blind man can see how the standard of Scottish football has declined over the yrs, they play in their own country, and can still attract decent crowds especially the old firm.
Here in Wales, we simply couldn’t sustain ourselves if all Welsh clubs played in Wales.
    It would be dire.
We rely, and always will rely on England ( the country lots of City like to profess to hate in their chants), continually for our bread and butter. I know lots of our fans on here don’t likre to think of it that way, but never the less it’s true.

You did word it in a ‘cap in hand’ way to be fair. I fully agree with you about the anti English chants, bit pathetic but perhaps not as pathetic as singing the horrible Hymns ‘n’ Arias anti Swansea version when we’re playing the likes of Cheltenham & Luton.
