Only one game in Div 1 (Surrey v Notts) has seen any play, good news for Glamorgan who probably would be happy to see as little play as possible.
Seems the delay at the Glamorgan game is due to ‘abnormally strong winds’.
Play abandoned for the day in all Division 2 games except for already promoted Leicestershire against bottom of the league Kent.
Glamorgan put in to bat, Kellaway injured, so Root comes in, but they seem to have dropped Crane for Gorvin.
106-6. Cooke out first ball. Definitely a bad toss to lose. More rain due tomorrow, but it’s Derby so it could turn out to be snow.
What an excellent 7th wicket stand. Still 36 overs to go today or 34 if we get bowled out. If the weather forecast is correct tomorrow will be a wash out making it very difficult for Derbyshire to win this game.
Glamorgan get what is a very unlikely batting point - 250-8.
Glamorgan 250/8.
One bonus point which was unexpected earlier in the day
Good runs down the order - but ever the pessimist - does that mean it is getting easier to bat?! Would have liked 1 before the close. Glos 3 down in reply, Middlesex 8 down before they get to 200. Draw this game and we’ll be well placed - but I’m nervous!
Huge credit to Carlson and the lower order. With the weather forecast looking as it is, Derbyshire will need to go at a T20 rate to realistically try and force a win.
Off the field, there seem to be strong rumours of Marchant de Lange coming back next year.
